Update: As over 60 users are reporting below, it appears Sony has finally added a version check blocking PS3 Proxy methods for PSN. Additionally,
8002A212 is an error returned by the PSN servers during authentication (invalid version) and
8002A227 means your console is banned (OpenPSID = blacklisted).
A few weeks back we posted several methods to
Bypass PS3 Firmware 3.21 and Connect to PSN, and today
dc740 has updated his PS3 Firmware check remover dubbed PS3NoUpdate to version 3.0 with a
guide while
jabberosx has coded up an installer and
FAQ for the tool.

To quote: I wrote a simple program that uses the known DNS method to bypass the firmware check... but with one difference... you only have to configure 1 line in 1 file, and that's it... then you just run it (windows/linux/anything that supports java).
I have added the java policy file. And changed the scripts.. also the HOW TO run he program must be updated.
The application must be run as administrator (or root in linux) because it uses ports 53 and 80 (double check that no other application is using them!)
The attachment includes the application source code in Java too.
Thanks Egohot has millions of Ps3 users double screwed. And my best wishes to demon hades team.
Simple answer: no.
If the game requires an update to a newer FW (Red Dead Redemption... http://www.ps3news.com/playstation-3-psn-news/red-dead-redemption-requires-ps3-firmware-3-21-or-higher/) then no you can't.
If the game doesn't require the newer FW (which is unlikely) then play as much as you want.
well we want linux back just to continue playing on line when we spending our time trying to find a definitive hack to be able to run unsigned code
By installing newer CFW firmware after 3.30? like Sony make it, and than we are modify it and get OTHEROS for example on 3.40 ha?
it may be possible but looks very improbable at the moment... if we could figure out how to reverse engineer a pup file so it ran like a normal update pup then it would verry well be possible but is still in the experimental stages (as is all work on CFW) just sit tight and if you can live without PSN and want a hack to come out i would suggest you stay on whatever firmware you are on untill it gets hacked just that simple... its strange how some people ask for CFW for linux back when all they want to do is be able to run unsigned code.
