84w ago - Following up on his previous revisions, today Spanish PlayStation 3 developer Estwald released PS3 Fan Control Utility v1.6 for CFW CEX 3.41, 3.55, 4.21, 4.30, 4.31 and 4.40 with details below.

To quote, roughly translated: I just uploaded version 1.6. Fixes a bug in the comparison of a record and add other things I hope to help solve the problems of crashes (one of the things I do is move the pointer I need to read, you will surely be in the stack, if is where the problem ASHI)

If you have a crash, it is important to tell if it responds to button off or not which game gives you, etc.. Note that the nature of the problems can be diverse and random, so if you do not give me up to the smallest detail ...

Anyway, I exhaust the possibilities: how good of doing this is through a background task, as I can do on CFW 4.40 with the new Core and yet it may interfere like any other application, logically. On the subject of which can lead to small cuts sound or some frame drop point, that if I can not do anything at all (consume his time reading, that drawer)

PD: But you try from this application, I am testing the payload from within Iris Manager, you already have all the support made (I've also enabled manual mode, but watch the values that you put, when I do release, clear ) Regards

From adygt comes a Control Fan Utility v1.6 Silent (linked above) who states the following: Hello guys, I don't know if anyone is interested, but I have just recompiled this great utility (v1.6) from source to make a more silent version for those who find the safety limit in mode 2 (lowest possible speed - 0x5F) a bit too strict and noisy.

What are the changes? I changed the lowest possible speed in mode 2 from 0x5F to 0x4A, everything else remains untouched.

WARNING!!! Since the safety limit was lowered, it is now much more easier to cause the PS3 to overheat and/or get an YLOD! This is intended only for those who think their PS3 can handle a bit more extra heat in exchange for a more silent fan. Use this at your own risk. I am in no way responsible of frying your PS3 or anything else that might happen by using this application.

All credits go to Estwald, many thanks for making this possible! I hope you enjoy

Finally, get ready for an incoming integrated Iris Manager update, as follows:

From Estwald: Other than putting it in the official thread I've updated the System Manager, I have added this thread to have it reference.

Integration with Iris Manager is already done and working: just how I am testing with payload and SM'm delaying because, in case I have to correct some of the payload or the same Iris. If you do not see anything unusual, version 2.40 will be released tomorrow.

if you reconfigure it correctly, then yes.

but if you set it on manual mode and in static fan speed that is high enough set mine slighly louder on my fan, and it get my CPU and GPU temps really cool, even the PS3 casing that should be really hot when I use it after an hour and now the casing stay cool all the time

This thing is flakey, and everyone knows it.

Had it on to play some GTA, after an hour it must have crashed and my fan shut off .. Didn't know it until too late, my graphics went all block glitchy like a bad Divx encode.. and Bam.. This here m'fker fried my motherboard !!!!

After I get it back from the shop, i'm putting in a manual fan control knob.

Setting to a single setting rather any payload/dynamic setting works as well. I presume it's the same code used in Iris Manager. Hopefully this new release 1.9.1 fixes the whole crashing thing, it's a minor issue having to run a program before the fan controller but I'd still rather run the fan controller first, especially if I'm running a PSN game which doesn't require me to open another program such as a manager.
