PS3 Debug/TEST Flash Dumped!!

Sponsored Links
355w ago - Earlier last week, one of the PS3 Devs sent his PS3 Debug/TEST unit off to another resident Dev (who also successfully did a PS3 Retail Flash dump early last year) to have the PS3 Flash dumped.

Well, it has been done! In an amazing feat taking all of 10 minutes, Courier pulled the two PS3 NAND Flash chips from the PS3 TEST and dumped them. Nothing like a hot air rework station in the hands of a professional!

So, the PS3 TEST Flash has been dumped! We also had a chance to do a preliminary analysis on it as we have seen and catalogued nearly 15 seperate PS3 Retail Flash dumps- and there is only (1) constant string in the section we are examining in all of them.

But in the PS3 TEST, it differs!!

More information will be posted soon, but the plan is now to replace said data on a Retail PS3 system, and by doing so modifying its identity to pass the update verification so that Debug/TEST Firmware can be installed on it... along with all the goodies it allows of course.

The infectus only dumps the main NAND flash chips on the PS3's motherboard, and nothing else. On some newer ps3's it can not yet dump the main flashes neither.

Is the infectus capable of dumping any of the chips OR can we send the chips out to be dumped?? i heard that there is a board being treated as such... and that is how the new dumps came about?

... maybe a stupid question? if the ps3 has a root key.. can not this root key be dumped as well? seeing as the root key is stored on the hardware in an unencrypted form that would give us a way in?

Even if you have a Retail unit with Test FW you still need the tools (software) because you only have the hardware...

So basically if this can be done then CJPC or other Dev need to "leak to everyone" the tools (and i dont know if he can do it).

If devs can give us all the software+hardware then yes we can say the dev will increase exponentially.

Good work btw

Take a look in the pictures, that is the file list (sofar)

Mind you that is not the "mounted" file list however - that is not available yet. However the "mounted" file list for another PS3 TEST is available in the site news archives!
