OpenSplit v1.0 to Split 4+GB Files for Open Manager PS3 Arrives

Sponsored Links
226w ago - Here is OpenSplit v1.0 to split 4+GB files via PC for Open Manager on the PS3 followed shortly by version 1.1 which includes some bug fixes and version 1.2, and deanrr shared a similar app called Split4G which he detailed HERE.

Download: OpenSplit v1.0 / OpenSplit v1.1 / OpenSplit v1.2

* What is this? *

This little tool lets you split the BIG files (bigger than 4GB) in your games on your PC, so that you can use them with Open Manager 1.0 for the ps3.

* How do I use it? *

- Press "Split BIG files to .666xx" in order to select a folder with your games. OpenSplit then will search the folder and all its subfolders for BIG files and split them according to Open Manager 1.0. All game folders that contained BIG files will be renamed accordingly. (example -> "BCESXXX" to "_BCESXXX")

- Press "Merge .666xx files to BIG" in order to select a folder with your games. OpenSplit then will search the folder and all its subfolders for .666xx files and merge them to BIG files. All game folders that contained .666xx files will be renamed accordingly. (example -> "_BCESXXX" to "BCESXXX")

- Check the checkbox "Don't delete splitted BIG / merged .666xx files" if you want to keep both BIG and .666xx files.

You can choose your whole GAMEZ directory, then all games will be processed.

I have attached the program to this post.

An important issue: PLEASE DON'T TRY TO MERGE .666xx FILES ON A FAT32 HDD! There files can't be bigger than 4 GB! You will only encounter errors!

Another issue: IF YOU START A SPLIT/MERGE PROCESS, ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL THE MESSAGE "All jobs done!" APPEARS IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY PROBLEMS!

Enjoy!

this is so you dont have to ftp your games across from pc to PS3. some games like motorstorm2 only run from the internal hdd. uncharted to which has a pak22.psarc file needs to pe split up so you can put it with the split files on an external hdd and this game runs from the external drive and internal.

i dont know why some games only run from the intenal drive. but this tool helps those who dont want to ftp games across.

i am running psgoove 1.1 and OBM 1.13 and uncharted2 runs fine split up on my external hdd.

You can install the Open Manager and choose the directory of the old BM for it. Then you use the Open Manager to get a splitted game merged onto your internal HDD in the right folder. After that, you can start the game from your old BM.

Thank you PS3 News!

TO: IHM
If the program does not delete files and does not rename directories, then it is very probable, that your games folder is on your windows partitition. Because of that a program needs administrator rights to be able to alter existing files and directories. You can try to run OpenSplit by rightclick->"run as administrator". Or optionally you could move your games directory to another logical partitition of your pc-HDD where no windows is installed.

I am having that weird problem again, V1.1 running 9 games through in batch mode, no dir swapping this time, but its not deleing the BIG file, so having to do it manually, and its not renaming the DIRS with _

Works ok 1 by 1 though.

If u guys are having an eboot.bin not valid or not found error using splitted files, make sure you copy the splitted game into a folder called GAMEZ on the external hdd fat32 and use open manager to copy it into the internal hdd instead of comgenie awesome file manager. I solve my problem this way.
