nXMB: Patch Dev Flash for PS1/PS2 Games in PS3 JailBreak Mode

Sponsored Links
206w ago - Today I share with everyone what I call nXMB, it allows you to patch Dev_Flash for PS1 games and PS2 games if your PS3 is backwards-compatible (has 4 USB ports) in PS3 JailBreak Mode!

Download: nXMB Dev_Flash Patch for PS3

What is nXMB?

nXMB is a tool that patches your dev_flash to play PS1 Games (PS2 games also work if you have a bc-console) in JB Mode.

How to use nXMB? And What are its requirements?

Requirements:

• PS3 that is JailBroken
• DEV_FLASH from your PS3
• JaiCraB's Firm Loader v0.3

Step 1: Connect via FTP and get your dev_flash
Step 2: Move your dev_flash and the nXMB into a new folder (NOT THE CONTENTS, BUT THE DEV_FLASH ITSELF).
Step 3: Open nXMB and let it patch your dev_flash
Step 4: Copy the contents of that dev_flash to your USB Flash Disk
Step 5: Launch USB Firm Loader

The PS3 will mount your USB flash disk as dev_flash

You will NOT see "Install Package Files" but instead of that you will be able to boot PS1/PS2 games and you will have access to your memory cards!

If you wish to view my old thread that led to this app it is located HERE. Currently trying to make 'Install Package Files' also appear in nXMB!

Have Fun!

Wait a minute activation files? Wouldn't that allow the games to be installed onto any PS3 without the need for activation via PSN?

Could this be a case of older PSN games having less security than the newer ones?

Why all this fuss with a "patch installer", when you could just upload the modifyed dev_flash\vsh\resource\explore\xmb\ category_game_tool2.xml ?

I am not able to run the nXMb in W7 x64. Can someone that have been able to apply the "patch", upload the dev_flash\vsh\resource\explore\xmb\ category_game_tool2.xml file?

Luckluka I have about 5 or 6 PSN downloaded PS1 games installed ,activated and working on my PAL 60GB 3.15, a couple from US PSstore but most from EUR PSstore. If you want them (+activation files if they would help) to aid in your research with this project just let me know.

I don't use that console normally anymore but I think they are:
Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot 2
Medievil
Spyro the Dragon
Demolition Derby
cant remember last one

Upload the smallest one. Activation files would help too!

This toll will NOT add something you don't have in normal mode already - just allows you to play PS1 (and PS2 if compatible) games in JB mode. It will NOT "magically" allow you to play PS2 games on non compatible PS3 nor backups.

Yes, I have read the thread. I just wanted to make sure I was getting it right and at the same time being hopeful.

Anyway, my PS3 is an 80gb machine and thought it didn't have BC, but when browsing the PS3 with WinSCP, I found ps1emu, ps2emu, and pspemu.

ps1 emu contains: ps1_emu.self, ps1_netemu.self, ps1_newemu.self, and ps1_rom.bin.

ps2 emu contains: ps1_emu.self, ps2_gxemu.self, and ps2_softemu.self.

Does this mean I do have BC?
