112w ago - Following up on the previous revision, today PlayStation 3 developer deank has updated multiMAN to version 04.15.00 which now includes Remote Access functionality allowing you to link PS3 CEX and DEX consoles together alongside mmRAS (multiMAN Remote Access Service) by aldostools with details below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] (mM+ps3netsrv/GUI+mmRAS+installPKG - 3.21 MB) / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] by aldostools

multiMAN 04.15.00 Changelog: This is only an UPDATE version (you need 04.14.00/04.15.00 BASE or FULL installed).

  • Updated PC application "ps3netsrv" to support fast folder-data retrieval
  • Greatly improved loading of remote /net_host folders (up to 4096 entries in mmOS and 2048 in other modes)
  • Greatly improved loading of remote Retro ROMs folders with covers
  • Added support to access remote PS3 system in mmOS or in game modes via /net_host
  • You can access all data of a remote PS3 to view/play photo/music/video files, transfer files/folders (and load ISO games/movies PS3/PSX/DVD/BD if used with Cobra CFW)
  • Added option in "Settings" - "Connect to Another PS3" - it allows full remote control (screen/pad) of another PS3 running multiMAN 04.15.00 and later
  • Added option in "Settings" - "Remote Access Permissions" (Disable/Files/Screen/Full) to restrict remote connnections to your PS3
  • Added support for mmRAS - PC application by Aldo (aldostools) which allows remote access to your PS3 (screen/pad) while running multiMAN
  • Screenshot feature in multiMAN (START+R2) will now save screens as JPEG.

The key features of this release:

  • The improved PC ps3netsrv application allows much faster access speeds when retrieving data from folders in mmOS or when browsing photo/music/video/ROMs from remote /net_host. You can now browse a remote folder with roms+covers and it takes a fraction of the time it took before.
  • The Remote Access feature allows you to connect to another PS3 anywhere in the world (be it in the other room or across the country) and copy files/folders, play Retro ROMs, view photos and play music and video files (after caching)
  • The Remote Access Control (PS3) feature allows you to connect to another PS3 running multiMAN and view its screen and control it with your pad. It allows you to minimize the current session and work with your own PS3 (to transfer files to the remote PS3 for example) and then return to the other PS3.
  • The Remote Access Control (PC) feature via aldostools mmRAS client allows you to connect to your PS3 (or any other PS3 around the world running multiMAN) from your PC. You can change the encoding quality of the picture, take screenshots in JPG (PrintScreen button) and control the PS3 with your keyboard and mouse. Click the [?] button for more information of the keyboard mappings.
  • The option in "Settings" (Remote Access Permissions) allows you to configure the access to your PS3. You can completely "Disable" it, you can allow remote connections only to access your "Files", you can restrict it only to remote control "Screen" or allow "Full" access for files and screen control.
  • The Remote Access Control provides 960x540 resolution (it doesn't depend on the remote PS3 resolution). The best results/quality and fastest response is achieved when server PS3 is running in 1920x1080.
  • To be able to use these features you have to configure your remote peers in "Settings" -> "Network Servers".
  • Any configured /net_host can be used for file access (PC and PS3) and for remote control (PS3)
  • If you are connecting to a PC you must have ps3netsrv application running on the PC side
  • If you wish to restrict access to your PS3 - change the setting in "Remote Access Permissions"
  • If you wish to connect to another PS3 configured as /net_host - use the "Connect to Another PS3" function in "Settings"

While connected to another PS3 you can 'minimize' the connection and work with your own PS3 and then resume the remote control. You will see the live minimized remote screen in the lower corner. To switch between local/remote control use [START]+[SQUARE].

To terminate a connection to a remote PS3 use [START]+[CIRCLE]. All other buttons you press will be sent to the remote PS3.

MANY thanks to aldostools for creating the PC application to connect to a remote-control-enabled PS3.

From aldostools comes a quick tutorial, as follows:

0- Run PARAM.SFO Edit.exe as Administrator to associate .SFO/.SFX extensions. Close it.
1- Backup your save data folder to a USB storage device (/PS3/SAVEDATA) or download them to the PC from /dev_hdd/home/0000000x/savedata via FTP
2- Backup your savedata folder in a ZIP/RAR/7z (just in case you make a mistak and corrupt your saves)
3- Start the Bruteforce and browse to your local savedata folder
4- Browse to a savedata with your account id and "Use PARAM.SFO as template" (you can do this manually copying the PARAM.SFO as "template.sfo" into the folder of Bruteforce)
5- Browse to a savedata with a foreign account id.
6- If the game has a key in the database it will be displayed, otherwise you will need to bruteforce it double clicking on the game and providing the ELF of the game (EBOOT or another self)
7- Once you have the key for the savedata to be resigned, press "Update Account ID" to update the PARAM.SFO with the account id in the template.
8- Press "Patch SFO" if the game is copy protected (it says YES in the Protected column)
9- Select all the files from the PFD using Ctrl+A and press "Decrypt PFD"
10- Use "Update PFD (Partial)" or "Update PFD (Partial update without Game setting) to update the hashes in the PFD. If you have the disc_hash_key for the game, you can use "Updae PFD (Full)".
11- Once the PFD is updated, select all files usingCtrl+A and press "Encrypt PFD"
12- Press "Verify PFD" to check if everything is OK.
13- Copy the resigned savedata to a USB storage device (/PS3/SAVEDATA) or transfer them from the PC to /dev_hdd/home/0000000x/savedata via FTP

Finally, from M@tsumot0: nice job master, i waiting for update STEALH version.

Put [Register or Login to view links] to your root usb go to install package file (Rogero 4.30 v2.03) on "APP_HOME/PS3_GAME" and push start for update your multiman 04.14.XX STEALTH to 04.15.00 STEALTH.

Enjoy.

Hey Dean! Great work as usual!

Is there any chance you'll be either making this compatible with 4.30 Cobra CFW or updating your mmCM to include the improvements you've made to MultiMan since 4.18?

That would be suuuuper!

Can someone help me? Is there a way inside mM settings to prevend my external drive from going to sleep while playing games that don't use it for several minutes like GOW, or while pausing a game?

Following up on the previous updates, today PlayStation 3 developer deank has updated multiMAN PS3 Backup Manager to version 04.20.00 which introduces a new payload to allow for easier Firmware porting among the changes outlined below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] (97.13 MB) / [Register or Login to view links] (Mirror) / [Register or Login to view links] (Mirror #2) / [Register or Login to view links] (Mirror #3) / [Register or Login to view links] (Mirror #4) / [Register or Login to view links] (291.27 MB) / [Register or Login to view links] (Mirror) [Register or Login to view links]

multiMAN v04.20.00 BASE (20130220) is now available online. NOTE: It is a BASE version, which means that it can be installed over ANY previous version and is also suitable for first-time users.

Changelog:

  • Introducing the new mM payload which makes mM independent and easy to port for various firmwares
  • Supports only 3.55 CEX/DEX, 4.21 CEX/DEX, 4.30 CEX, 4.31 CEX
  • BD-ROM Emulator option in Settings can be set to "Enable / Disable" - no more "Hermes"/"Standard"
  • Compatibility-wise it is better than "Standard" and "Hermes".
  • This payload overwrites 252 bytes of strings in LV2 memory (and not 4000 bytes of code like other payloads), it doesn't use syscalls and doesn't rely on firmware functions, executes fast and improves performance
  • Added option in settings "Redirect /app_home":
  • Disable (/app_home will not be mounted at all)
  • Enable (/app_home as used in previous versions - points to the game - for disc-less)
  • Toolbox (on Rogero firmwares with pre-installed toolbox if you play from discs only - it allows you to return to stealthMAN without restart)
  • For 3.55DEX and 4.21DEX mM now supports split-games, adds better disc-less compatibility and also allows loading of PS1 backups in BIN+CUE format from internal/external.
  • IMPROVED DISC-LESS COMPATIBILITY: The new payload allows for some tweaks and there is 80% chance that games that didn't work disc-less will now work.

Includes:

  • multiMAN ver 04.20.00 BASE CEX (20130220).pkg (30 MB)
  • multiMAN ver 04.20.00 BASE DEX (20130220).pkg (37 MB)
  • multiMAN ver 04.20.00 BASE CEX STEALTH (20130220).zip (29 MB)

CEX, DEX and STEALTH versions include Showtime 4.3.21, ps1emu for 3.55/4.21/4.3x, ps1netemu for 3.55/4.21/4.3x, AIOMOD.BIN and mM's theme.

Additionally to the BASE version contents, the full one adds:

  • One motion background (4 MB)
  • 9 themes (125MB)
  • 5623 PS3 game covers (97 MB)
  • 3425 PS1/PS2 game covers (43 MB)

This is the ONLY difference between BASE and FULL (the additional content, which usually doesn't change a lot from one FULL to another).

FAQ:

I'm playing Assassins Creed III with an odd issue: With the disc in drive it runs as a BLES version. When running discless it runs as BLUS - it is not a major issue but it will double the install space (4,5 GB x 2 = 9 GB) and the BLES run does not use the BLUS savegame (and vice-verra). Will it be possible to look into this ?

The problem here is even though Aliens: Colonial Marines works on EXT (or INT) Disc-less you are still NOT getting the FULL game data install of 2711MB ,so this game to be 100% running NEEDS the disc in the drive to install the game data ,after which you can play it disc-less without problems.

Without a disc in the drive your install data (the game doesn't even prompt you to install a thing) is only 39KB (previous payloads it was 1KB). With the disc in the drive (which is the correct way to load this game even though it does run without a disc) your install data is much bigger, 2711MB. So tagging this game to run 100% without any problems down the road ,it simply needs a disc in the drive to install the data. At some point in the game the ps3 MAY look for that installed game data and it isn't there when you run the game first disc-less (or dont install the game data with the disc),this will cause you problems later on.

Another example of this is with RAGE. The game doesn't even prompt you at all to install any game data disc-less and will most likely cause problems later on. With a disc in the drive you get the full game data install. After the game data is installed the game can be ran disc-less with out problems

Discless (as you all call it) is a special boot mode and some games act in a very weird way (if they boot at all). There is nothing that can be done about that.

Users are VERY confused about the differences between starting a game from /app_home and from a disc icon (/dev_bdvd). You can't expect the game to act the same when using /app_home and certainly a lot of games require that you remove the old gamedata (which you intalled when you played from disc) and install it again. You should decide beforehand whether you're going to play a game from the disc icon or from app_home and keep that decision until you play/finish the whole game. If you mix both modes you'll run into problems.

Conclusion - When you run a game discless for the first time, it may not install game data. It may look fine at first, but you may run into problems with the game. So a good practice, run the game with disc with. See if the game install the data. After that you may run the it discless.

multiMAN 04.19.07 minor update is available online and in the web column. Showtime by Andreas Oman 4.03.010 (for mM and Standalone) are available online and in the web column.

  • Added support for multi-disc games when using PS1_NETEMU emulator

With this update the ps1 backups support saga should be concluded.

p.s. Here are the two major patches in ps1_netemu. Iris no longer uses 'patched emulators' but provides syscall emulation, but I prefer to keep it this way - it is much clear and simple.

ATAPI 0x4A GET EVENT/STATUS NOTIFICATION

ATAPI 0xBE READ CD

mM's main source file would become over 100 000 if I spend the time to follow the 'break line' rule when more than 50-60 characters are used per line and if I used comments. I started with mM as a tool for myself so I don't really care if other people can continue with it, nor I'm weary about someone adopting the code to turn it into a bigger mess. It contains about 200 lines from the original "Open Backup Manager" (which afaik was ~3000 lines) - if you wish you can start with it.

With multiMAN 05.00.00 only 4.30 and higher firmwares will be supported. Supporting 14 different firmwares is too hard to maintain compatibility with.

These will no longer be supported:

  • 3.41 OFW
  • 3.41 OFW + DONGLE
  • 3.41 MFW (HERMES)
  • 3.55 OFW
  • 3.55 CFW KMEAW
  • 3.55 CFW COBRA
  • 3.55 CFW TB
  • 3.55 CFW REBUG/ROGERO
  • 3.55 OFW DEX
  • 3.55 CFW DEX
  • 4.21 OFW DEX
  • 4.21 CFW REBUG
  • 4.21 CFW ROGERO 1.00..2.03

These and later will be supported:

  • 4.30 CFW ROGERO 2.05..
  • 4.30 CFW REBUG
  • 4.31 CFW

In the beginning mM used to support 1.90/3.00/3.14/3.21 firmwares but then suddenly the new additions started to cause issues with these old firmwares so I leveled up at 3.41. Now 2 years and 6 months later I think it is time to go up again.

Users of unsupported firmwares can stay with 04.19.00 or lower multiMAN version - anyway - it has more than everything one may need. Or switch to Iris.

Just a quick note: From the next version mM will use its own payload. No more [Hermes], [Standard], [PL3].

I coded my own payload:

  • It doesn't use any syscalls
  • It is just 252 bytes (over 5-6 times smaller than other payloads)
  • It doesn't overwrite any code in LV2 memory
  • It doesn't allocate kernel memory
  • It supports multiple path/files redirections
  • It is memory-position independent and easy to use on all firmwares
  • ... and is 252 bytes

Update: [Register or Login to view links] (2.45 MB) - THIS IS A TEST VERSION!

  • It introduces the new mM payload which makes mM independent and easy to port for various firmwares
  • Supports only 3.55 CEX/DEX, 4.21 CEX/DEX, 4.30 CEX, 4.31 CEX
  • BD-ROM Emulator option in Settings can be set to "Enable / Disable" - no more "Hermes"/"Standard"
  • This payload overwrites 252 bytes of strings in LV2 memory (and not 4000 bytes of code like other payloads), it doesn't use syscalls and doesn't rely on firmware functions, executes fast and improves performance
  • Compatibility-wise it is better than "Standard" and slightly better than "Hermes".

Download: [Register or Login to view links] (2.45 MB)

This is another test version with the new payload.

  • IMPROVED DISC-LESS COMPATIBILITY:

The new payload allows for some tweaks and there is 80% chance that games that didn't work disc-less will now work. It is somewhat based on the DEX LAN /app_home mounting from remote PC compatibility list, which you can find here: Omnomnom's Tasty A-Z of mmDM Game-Running Tutorials

If you want real improvements please post back with FEEDBACK. For example "Alice: Madness Returns" and "Army of Two: The 40th Day" now work disc-less. Thanks to GotIt4Free for all the tests.

You can use this report_data.txt to update your stealthMAN via the toolbox as usual:

Download: [Register or Login to view links] (1.49 MB)

Copy report_data.txt a USB stick, start the toolbox/IPF and press [START] to update stealMAN.

multiMAN v04.19.06 is now available from deank with the changes below:

Download: [Register or Login to view links] (21.77 MB - CEX/DEX/STEALTH updates) / [Register or Login to view links] (Mirror)

multiMAN 04.19.06 minor update is available online and in the web column.

  • Added support for PSXEMU/PSXNETEMU emulator selection for PS1 BIN+CUE backups (Press [Triangle] -> Game Settings)
  • When using PSX NETEMU option the disc backups must be in MODE1 or MODE2 / 2352 (or more) bytes sector
  • Multi-disc games are not supported in this initial PS1_NETEMU-support version

The default launch mode for PS1 file backups is "AUTO" = PSX EMU. Some games may require or look/perform better when using PSX NETEMU. The patched versions were tested on 4.30 and 4.21, but hopefully 3.41 and 3.55 versions will work too.

Each emulator selection is remembered per game. This method is similar to the ps1_emu.self patching and doesn't affect other apps nor uses system calls which make break other apps.

The patch is quite simple (just 244 bytes for ATAPI 0xBE READ CD command):

I just read the comments about BD-MIRROR and Black-Screen-Games. I just tested "Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands" (my BSG test game) and it worked from internal and from external (on 4.30CFW).
