153w ago - Following up on his previous updates, today PlayStation 3 developer deank released another update to the PS3 backup manager bringing it to multiMAN version 02.04.00 (20110824-152900) which now allows write access to dev_flash via dev_blind.

multiMAN v02.04.00 Update (20110824-152900) Changelog:

  • Added: Option in XMMB Settings column: [Write access to /dev_flash via /dev_blind]

It means that you can enable write access to /dev_flash (using /dev_blind mount point) and manipulate its contents via FTP or File Manager mode. I used it to replace the .sprx files to disable Cinavia Protection (works!).

Files must be replaced in /dev_blind/vsh/module/ using either FTP or file manager mode in multiMAN. Actually it is quite easy to create a small standalone installer to do that, I wonder why no one did it.

Nice, top work, thanks again, looking forward to anything else you do with this.

One final thing (for now!), as and when we update, what happens to everything we've already put under the \GAMES\, it doesn't get wiped does it ?

The program will detect these titles and will display them in the menu. If you activate one of them it will automatically rename it and will save the current name, so don't worry - it will work.

OK, so on one of my USB drives I've got the following structure :

F:\AVCHD
F:\AVCHD_TitleX
F:\AVCHD_TitleXX
F:\AVCHD_TitleXXX

etc. When I want to watch something I obviously just remove the underscore and everything after it. Does this now, in essence, do that for me without altering the file structure ? I.e. you know longer need an AVCHD folder at the root of the USB drive ?

#vstace: No, not a concept. Browsing works for both panes. COPY/DELETE/RENAME will be in the next update.

Just installed it, mightily impressed, thanks for all the hard work!

One thing, when you connect a USB device, full of AVCHD folders do they have to be named something specific or does it scan and recognise via another method ?

Also, are the AVCHD folders mountable/playable via the internal HDD (obviously this is the main annoyance with AVCHD - not getting DTS/24p/Subs etc if played off internal)

It will look for INDEX.BDM in your USB devices ROOT+ONE_FOLDER_DEEP paths, no matter what they are named.

No, it is not possible to play AVCHD from the internal disk. Not unless some tweaks are made in XMB xmls and some other files.
