158w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer deank has updated the PS3 Game Backup Manager to multiMAN version 02.06.02, which incorporates a refresh speed modification that still maintains the homebrew application's overall performance.

multiMAN v02.06.02 PS3 Update (20110912-212500) Changes:

  • multiMAN versions 01.10.00-02.06.00 ran in VSYNC mode (it caused barely-noticed tearing because of the double refresh rate). Latest update compensates the speed by lowering the refresh speed, while keeping the performance. It means no tearing (unless you really want it - switch with SELECT+SQUARE)..
  • Opening a SIDE menu will make current entry icon zoom 8x and visible enough in 480p/576p modes. Looks pretty in photo, music, game/fave/retro columns.
  • "Key Repeat Delay" for some reason was ignored when changing it... Now fixed.

Update is available online, too.

Showtime SELF Version 3.1.265.g6e201.dirty Changelog:

  • Added: XMB videos and last folder visible in Showtime
  • Added: Return to multiMAN when using the EXIT icon in to top right corner of main Showtime Interface
  • Since version 3.1.231 Showtime can play multi-channel audio on the PS3
  • In 3.1.239 there are fixes for 5.1/7.1 audio processing

Save the downloaded file as: /dev_hdd0/game/BLES80608/USRDIR/SHOWTIME.SELF

multiMAN v02.06.02 Update OpenFTP (20110914-165700) Changes:

  • Changed: Implemented OpenPS3FTP by jjolano and removed the old buggy FTP server (faster transfer speeds and no path/file length limitations)

This should clear most of the FTP problems multiMAN had. Transfer speed is now faster, you can use 8-16 simultaneous file transfers, and the problem with long path and file names is gone now. The implementation of openps3ftp is based on older version from jjolano, but still is much much better than what multiMAN had until now, so big thanks to him!

multiMAN ver 02.06.03 Update OpenPS3FTP (20110914-180000) Changes:

If anyone had issues with "Coverflow" mode (locks, motion background video stop/break), use the update from the first post or update your multiMAN online via debug mode.

Also added new option in the XMMB Settings column:

4 new labels in the language files:

  • Background Appearance
  • Changes background type for XMMB and Coverflow modes.
  • Image
  • Video

Nice, top work, thanks again, looking forward to anything else you do with this.

One final thing (for now!), as and when we update, what happens to everything we've already put under the \GAMES\, it doesn't get wiped does it ?

The program will detect these titles and will display them in the menu. If you activate one of them it will automatically rename it and will save the current name, so don't worry - it will work.

OK, so on one of my USB drives I've got the following structure :

F:\AVCHD
F:\AVCHD_TitleX
F:\AVCHD_TitleXX
F:\AVCHD_TitleXXX

etc. When I want to watch something I obviously just remove the underscore and everything after it. Does this now, in essence, do that for me without altering the file structure ? I.e. you know longer need an AVCHD folder at the root of the USB drive ?

#vstace: No, not a concept. Browsing works for both panes. COPY/DELETE/RENAME will be in the next update.

One thing, when you connect a USB device, full of AVCHD folders do they have to be named something specific or does it scan and recognise via another method ?

Also, are the AVCHD folders mountable/playable via the internal HDD (obviously this is the main annoyance with AVCHD - not getting DTS/24p/Subs etc if played off internal)

It will look for INDEX.BDM in your USB devices ROOT+ONE_FOLDER_DEEP paths, no matter what they are named.

No, it is not possible to play AVCHD from the internal disk. Not unless some tweaks are made in XMB xmls and some other files.
