Mednafen Multi-System Emulator Port for PS3 is Now Available

218w ago - Homebrew developer Robo Hobo has released a PS3 port of Mednafen today, which is a multi-system (NES, GB, GBC, GBA, SMS, GG) emulator for the PlayStation 3 GameOS.

To quote: Currently Mednafen only supports zipped roms, as there was a bug with unzipped roms (fix coming soon). Future versions should have PC Engine and PC Engine CD, as well as Atari Lynx, Neo-Geo Pocket and WonderSwan.

This is a port of the Mednafen Multi-System emulator to the Sony PlayStation 3.

Mednafen PS3 Features:
• Emulates NES GB GBC GBA SMS GG
• Load uncompressed or zipped images
• Save and load save ram and save states
• File browser, place your games on a USB drive, or FTP them to the internal drive
• Fast forward

The first time you load a game for a system, you will be asked to configure the controls, you can reconfigure them later by pressing L3 + R3.

• PCE and PCE CD support
• Neo-Geo pocket, Atari Lynx and Wonder Swan support
• Better user interface

Use:
• File Menu
• Up and Down to Scroll the list by 1
• Left and Right to scroll the list by a page
• Cross: Select File or directory
• Circle: Go to previous directory

In Game:
• Tilt the right stick to the right for fast forward
• R3 to open settings menu
• Hold L3 + L2 to save state
• Hold L3 + R2 to load state
• Hold L3 + R3 to redefine controls

Settings Menu:
• Up and down to choose setting
• Left and right to change the current settings value

R84 has been released.

Revision 84:
- Support bios in vbam, support (included)vba-over.ini in vbam to fix games with special save types (Pokemon games now doesn’t have alerts about circuits and saves now succesfully, other games better now)

Here is revision 83 with the changes as well:

- Changing the older fonts by font anti-aliasing
- Fixed a crash when emulation of the PC-Engine

Here's R81 compiled.. changes:

r82 l1ght: Remove unneeded vbam build directory from svn
r81 l1ght: Fix perfomance regression, change icons and font, tell emulators to actually skip frames during fast forward, some tweaks that hopefully don't break anyting Re-add a fixed vba-m for gba, good speed and sound while skipping 1 of 3 three frames. Use the vbam.skiphack feature to enable or disable it, default is on. Set vbam.disable to off to return to old gba driver. Vbam has no save states or rewind currently, they will be added soon.
r80 Forgot the folder icon
r79 l1ght: Hopefully fix sound lag, add directory icon in file browser, stop input from spilling outside of menus, increase menu speed the longer a button is held
r78 l1ght: Add dedicated input config menu, use triple buffering for video

Theres lots of cool new features to try like full screen mode and looking at the settings it looks like the Mega CD may be added in the future. Only problem is that you have to exit to the XMB to chose another rom at the moment and not all my Megadrive roms seem to work but give it time I guess

It would be cool to use a wii emulator, i just finally got the ecliPS3 working and testing out all the emulators, everything seems so much better than playing the emulators on the wii. Pretty sure wii games will be more fun to play on the ps3, hate that wii remote.
