KLicensee Bruteforcer v2.0 by JjKkYu for PS3 CFW is Now Available

28w ago - Following up on his previous updates, today today PlayStation 3 developer JjKkYu (aka Brunestud) has released KLicensee Bruteforcer v2.0 with details below.

To quote: Hi, Mates. I have update the DevKlic Bruteforcer to v2.0, since it now supports self/sprx, so I rename the tool.

New features in v2.0:

1. Support bruteforce klic for self/sprx files.
2. Add text mode for binary source file.
3. Fix last line bug in line mode.

This tool is based on EDAT DevKlic Validator by BuC. And great thanks to catalinnc for his help in adding self and text mode support.

Some klic for certain games are still hidden, I do not know how it is stored in EBOOT. If someone can give some clue, it will be helpful to improve the tool.

Awesome work from JjKkYu (as usual)!

Here are 2 tips to find the dev_klic even faster:

1- First try to bruteforce the edat against the list of known: ps3tools.aldostools.org/dev_klics.txt


2- If the key is not found above, open the eboot.bin with scetool and show the info. Then open the ELF with HxD and cut from the offset 0 to the offset of the 3rd section.

Usually this will reduce the "devklic source file" (elf) to about a 50% or less of the original size, saving a lot of time.

To quote: This tool is used to bruteforce devklic for edat files on pc. It supports bruteforcing from binary or text files. It only take minutes to bruteforce in an elf file, no more waiting for hours or days.

This tool is based on BuC's EDAT Devklic Validator, all credit to BuC.

Update to v1.1

  • Fix a bug while bruteforce in text file.

Update to v1.2

Add 2 Modes:

  • Short Mode: Run only 4 rounds for binary source file. This mode doesn't try all the contents from source file. But it is enough in most cases.
  • Line Mode: Run only 1 round for text source file. This mode reads first 32 bytes in each line as devklic. It runs extremely fast for formatted text source file.

Today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer spacemanspiff has released OpenSCETool (OSCETool) v0.9.2 which is an open-source clone of the original SCETool followed by the SCETool source code by naehrwert with details below.

To quote: OpenSCETool is a clone of scetool under an open source license. SCETool was reverse engineered and analized to produce this program, and copied his behaivour.

  • Fixed rap/rif/idps/act.dat management. Now it works fine.

  • Fixed a segfault decrypt some SELFs.
  • Added option -p to patch the sys_process_param when signing an ELF. This is the same as applying FixELF.exe before signing.

Following up on his previous updates, today PlayStation 3 developer JjKkYu has released TrueAncestor EDAT Rebuilder v1.2 followed by v1.25 with details below.

v1.25:

1. Add subfolder traversal in edat/sdat folder.
2. Fix 2G+ file handling issue (probably).
3. Fix syntax issue while handling certian edat files.
4. Re-adjust the mainmenu.

v1.2:

1. Add SDAT file supporting.

v1.1:

1. Fix Java OutOfMemory for encrypting big files.
2. Add JVM Memory config in toolcore.cfg.

v1.0 Features:

1. Decrypt and encrypt edat files on pc.
2. Fast rebuild mode.

4. Dev Klic should be input manually at now.

It seems Windows 8 cannot pass the java check.. maybe fix it in next version.

Finally, from oakhead69: Hi jjkkyu, If you have based your code on my C# code which in turn is based on the port by KDSBest. There is a significant bug in the reverseByteWithSizeFIX code.

It will fail the hash check on some data blocks, hench KDSBest removed the test. More importantly when generating the hash for the data blocks during encryption, the hash will be incorrect. Hench the resulting SDAT/EDAT will be bad. I have attached some updated code below.
