223w ago - With the release of PS3 Firmware 3.21, many are now planning to hold off updating their PlayStation 3 consoles and use one of the PS3 Proxy applications to bypass the required PS3 Firmware update to connect to PSN.
While most of the applications, guides and videos are quite dated (from 2007-2009), below are links to some to make navigating easier. Special THANKS to ekrboi and themiker for making recent guides as well, also available below.
We will continue to add relevant links as they are dug up, and also links to posts with all new guides that prove useful.
How to Bypass PS3 Firmware 3.21 and Connect to PSN Guides:
Feel free to reply to this thread with which application and guide you found easiest, as they all accomplish essentially the same result.

i am set to Primary DNS IP to 126.96.36.199. Worked flawless.. but now it saying playstation network FAILED ??
I wonder if they simply somehow banned the requests that come from that DNS. I am not network savvy, so this is my guess.
Yeah, but unless majority of people do that, otherwise, Sony is not going to care much.
From Mathieulh twitter:
The consumers ps3 3.15 Firmware can no longer connect to the psn. P.S. I still strongly advise anyone not to update their consoles to 3.21.
LOL he's a little slow, as it's been reported since this morning here.
From IRC though, hopefully GeoHot cares more than Mathieulh seems to:
guessswh0 wireshark wont work
the auth uses ssl
the only way would be to decrypt the vsh and reverse it to find where the check is
not for the psn auth at least
even if anyone is to ever figure out what the check actually is
then remember that you can't just run unsigned code like that
which means it is likely you would have to run a patched lv2
I believe replacing most of the vsh to the 3.21 version is likely to do the trick though
the problem is it isn't gonna work more than once, when sony releases 3.22, you all get screwed
not sure yet but I assume vsh sprx, unless they are just the ones in the cert folder
(which I happen to have)
those are probably the webbrowser certs though
well I am not leaking sony's certs in there so I guess you'll have to dump these on your own xD
who cares about the psn anyway ? :P
