252w ago - With the release of PS3 Firmware 3.21, many are now planning to hold off updating their PlayStation 3 consoles and use one of the PS3 Proxy applications to bypass the required PS3 Firmware update to connect to PSN.
While most of the applications, guides and videos are quite dated (from 2007-2009), below are links to some to make navigating easier. Special THANKS to ekrboi and themiker for making recent guides as well, also available below.
We will continue to add relevant links as they are dug up, and also links to posts with all new guides that prove useful.
How to Bypass PS3 Firmware 3.21 and Connect to PSN Guides:
I'm just messed with proxy and while i can login to PSN, the 'what's new' said this service is not available in your country/region.
Did sony disabled it or they started to GeoIP it?
Other: in Logan5's tool the IP may not always correct (if you have more than one network adapter, check what's your right one)
If you annoyed by big windows of proxy-s, you can minize to tray, or even hide them completely by tools like the free TrayIt: [Register or Login to view links]
Anyone got a proxy tool which works with a firmware version lower than 3.00?
Nothing works for me as I am on 2.80. All the tools out there only work with 3.00 and above for some reason.
Well - it's not a problem of tool itself - basically Sony has changed the way PS3 will authenticate while logging inot the PSN so (at the moment, until somebody will try to "crack secure XML communication) it's not possible anymore to log in to PSN with pre 3.00 FW PS3
Thanks for the advice. I tried that earlier but to no avail. Tried running in compat mode for Vista and same issue would crop up.
It would occasionally work well enough to log into PSN. But when connecting to BC2 servers it would crap out and give a PSN network error. Think it was something like 80052B3. Not sure thought. I gave up on the program and moved on. But if someone really needs the error documentation I'll run through it and report back.
Edit: Just checked LG5Tool, its working again now, go figure. :-)
