E3 Team on New PS3 JailBreak, DRM USB Dongle in Development

Sponsored Links
124w ago - This weekend the E3 Team have announced a new PS3 JailBreak alongside news of another PlayStation 3 DRM-infected USB dongle currently in development.

Below are the details, as follows: Official Statement from E3 Team Regarding a New PS3 Jailbreak

Few days ago, there was news posted on various Web sites that we had cloned JB2 (aka) True Blue (TB) successfully.

We clarify we did not clone any other product, but we did find the ways on how to allow the newer games to work on CFW v3.55.

Our research has found 3 different ways to allow newer games to work on older firmwares!

A way:

  • No need of any new keys, but allows SOME new games to work on CFW v3.55 with a special bypass.
  • We think the USB device on market uses this system. (Maybe)
  • With this method, most games even v4.11 games can run on CFW v3.55 very easily.
  • But there has some games that can't work with this A way.

E3 Team knows this A way very well and can modify a newer v3.6+ game in 10 min.

B way:

  • Decrypt games with it's private key and encrypt with v3.55 key, so game can run on CFW v3.55 successfully.
  • For example, you need v3.65 key to decrypt v3.65 game. Need v4.11 key to decrypt v4.11 game.
  • E3 Team can successfully get all newer keys up to v4.11.
  • We are 100% sure we can get all keys to v4.20 or higher FW with same way, only it takes some more time.
  • This means, E3 Team can decrypt all newer games with this B way.

As a matter of a fact, we are planning a newer CFW (no more need to be stuck on v3.55) when we have completed our research.

C way:

  • Modify Blu-ray firmware to allow newer games to run on older firmware.
  • But only a few of the newer games can work with this C way, so we stopped researching this method.

We are in the progress of developing a new USB device, to allow users to enjoy our work with economical cost. We will release further news and list of its features regarding this new product at a later date.

Finally, to thank all of users whom have supported us in the past with our previous products, like the E3 Card Reader and E3 Flasher, we have decided to release 2 game eboots for free for everyone to enjoy that work directly on any console running CFW v3.55 directly.

Remember our current product, the E3 Flasher is also very useful for Dual-Boot and to downgrade on older consoles, as for now we need to still stay on CFW v3.55.

PS: Unfortunately the latest Slim 3000x consoles can't work currently with downgrade or dual-boot methods mentioned above, as it is fully difference design compared to the older PS3 consoles, but have no fear we are still working hard on solving this puzzle.

Below is links to our proof videos to show our work. First we run Ninja Gaiden 3 using the A way and then second we run Splinter Cell Trilogy HD with B way, which no matter how hard you have tried the A way it will never run.

Shows Ninja Gaiden 3 working and also Splinter Cell Trilogy HD working, the later game has not been released by any other Jailbreak dongle yet.

Downloads (Confirmed working with Kmeaw 3.55 PS3 CFW with NO dongle required! PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware 3.41 users can simply apply the required PS3 EBOOT patch below and then edit their PARAM.SFO file to read as 3.41 instead):

Those having lockup issues with FIFA Street using the World Tour option can use the new fix that adds a missing SPRX file to allow the game to run on PS3 CFW 3.55. Be sure the SPRX file gets overwritten in this directory on your HDD containing the FIFA Street game:

PS3_GAME/USR_DIR/dlc/dlc_FootballCompEng/dlc/FootballCompEng/

Also note that you may need to Rebuild the Database via the PS3 Recovery Menu if your PS3 has cached the wrong version code from the previously unpatched SPRX file.

e3team you should resign your eboots with npdrm free license and resign additional selfs and sprx with application klicensee

e3team also you need to fix sys_process_param_version with the right firmware version

e3team and please, use scetool instead of unself and self_rebuilder, otherwise your fixes will be useless

A) Fixes World Tour.
B) Enables the on-line (by replacing the param.sfo) [online pass is needed - you can take a trial for 2 days]

I received my E3 Flasher a couple of hours ago from [Register or Login to view links] and here is my review.

Packaging:

The E3 flasher comes in a nice big box, it's actually bigger than I expected it to be and it contains 3 inner boxes.

The first box contains all the important stuff like the Nor flasher, main board and the cover board which connects to the pins on the main board.

The second box contains all the accessories and cables like the Esata USB cable which is not used with the E3 flasher at all and is probably for use with the PC or something like that it also contains the Esata cable which is used with the E3 flasher and the power adapter which didn't fit in my power socket because it wasn't the right shape (different region), so I had to go of and buy a power adapter converter thing so the Esata station will work.

For the accessories they included a power switch for PS3 slim users and a metal case for the main board to sit in where the HDD usually sits but a screw driver wasn't included like they mentioned.

The third box contains the Esata station and it is the biggest and heaviest box out of the three.

Installation:

I installed the E3 flasher a NOR fat PS3 (after I fixed a broken Blu-ray drive and the YLOD on it), I'll install it on a slim PS3 in a few days and tell you how it compared to installing it on the Fat PS3.

Installing the NOR flasher clip on the PS3 is the easy part, it fits on but not too well so I decided to add some sticky tape to it to hold it on so it won't break off. But then I had to find a way to connect the NOR flasher to the main board (which sat where the HDD usually is) without breaking it, I did this by slightly twisting the NOR flasher and connecting it to the main board making it look a bit like a ribbon, this way I won't damage it.

After all that I closed my PS3 like I normally would and I was done. It would have been nice if they added a guide on how to install it on a FAT PS3 the same way they had a guide on how to install for the Slim PS3 but they still added some pictures as a guide (which I have attached) so that still helped a little bit.

Downgrading:

Before I did this I had to upgrade my PS3 to 3.73 FW so it will work. Downgrading using the E3 flasher was by far the most confusing thing I've ever done with my PS3, first of all I needed to add some files (e3_downgrade.bin and update.bin) to a Micro SD card which they hadn't included. So I had to use my Micro SD card from my Nokia N97.

After following some more steps I had to put some more files onto a flash drive (UPDAT.PUP and Lv2diag.self) and then follow some more steps to downgrade (I won't go in depth because there are too many steps to mention).

I successfully downgraded my 3.73 PS3 after a very long and confusing procedure and then I installed multiMAN on it, mutliMAN and the games ran normally on it.

Overall:

I give the E3 flasher a 7/10

+ Easy to install.
+ Good packaging.
+ Smart Design.

- Confusing guides with bad English making it very confusing, would've been nice if the guides were in better English or better yet if they made a video. (Download the downgrade guide to see what I mean)
- No Micro SD included.

If you can find this product for around $50 and want to downgrade I suggest you buy it, hopefully there will be more guides on how to use the E3 flasher so more people like me won't be so confused.

Below are the pictures of the product, the ones with E3-tech on it are from the guide on how to install it on a fat PS3 and the rest are my pictures. I'm sorry I didn't take pictures of me installing it on the motherboard (I kind of forgot), I will next time I install it on my PS3 slim.

Also big thanks to LighTake.com, I got my E3 flasher shipped to me from Hong Kong to Australia within 4 days which was actually pretty fast.

Opening the console is not a hard procedure, but if you're too careless you could easily break something. It's best to do everything slowly and watch a couple videos on youtube on how to open up the PS3.

I'm still unsure if i should buy it because I don't even know how to open my console and i have fear of brick it.

A quick update from the E3 Team, it's most likely not going to help anybody but I'll post it anyway.
