237w ago - Today BGRMods.com (linked above) has announced their new IntensaFire controller modification for use with DS3 wireless controllers on Sony's PS3 entertainment system.

For FPS addicts who don't consider it cheating, the IntensaFire controller modifies PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 (Model #CECHZC2U) wireless controllers, allowing them to transform to a rapid-fire controller.

Benefits include: Rapid-fire R1, R2, L1 and the "X" button, along with dual-rapid fire, 8-mode sleeper, works in all PS3 controllers, easy installation, 3-customizable user programmer-mode, does not require a more powerful battery, and easy to program for all future games.

Finally, they have [Register or Login to view links] available online in PDF format, and below is the official press release.

Press Release: PS3 INTENSAFIRE™

From the minds of gamers. We saw a need in the gaming market. Console and accessory customization is a large part of the gaming world. The problem was that gamers buy mod kits for their controllers only to find out they were too complex to assemble themselves. So we partnered with an engineering team to get a product to the gamers that eliminates the technical curve, and offers more than the standard mod kit does.

What does it do?

The PS3 INTENSAFIRE™ enhances the newer PS3 Dual Shock 3 controllers allowing them to transform to rapid fire controllers. The 8-mode sleeper settings, include rapid fire to the R1, R2 and "X" buttons. There are 8 total modes with 5 preset modes and 3 user customizable programmable modes.

It uses the D-Pad to toggle modes, and on and off. Usable in all PS3 Games, including gamer favorites: KillZone 2, The Call of Duty series, BattleField Bad Company 2, and other current and future first person shooter and fighting games. The IntensaFIRE promises to bring your gaming to the next level.

How is it better?

Rapid-fire mod kits exist. The PS3 INTENSAFIRE™ however, is a complete user programmable rapid fire kit that you can install yourself... EASILY. There are controllers on the market, prefabricated, that do what the PS3 INTENSAFIRE™ offers, each controller going for well over $150.

We offer a kit that is extremely simple to install, taking no more than 2 minutes with no tools for less than half the cost of the prefabricated units.

Other mod kits require drilling, wiring, gluing, and deconstruction of your controllers. The PS3 INTENSAFIRE™ is a snap on clip that needs none of the above tools. Connect the PS3 INTENSAFIRE™ flex board to the controller and you're ready to go!

Bonus: You get two free LED's to customize your controller that go in with just a clip. You have the option to change these LED's in the middle of a match; its that easy to do!

Sorry everyone - I'm having a bit of a let-down at the moment.

I ordered an A/V USB capture card, about 2 weeks ago and I was really hoping to use that. If I don't get it tomorrow I'll have to shoot the vid entirely on camera - which is probably going to be less than HD. lol.

but in any case - I have downloaded Wolfenstein (Demo), Battlefield 1943 (Full - I will definitely use in the review), as well as Kane & Lynch (Demo).

Sorry laggmaster - Ya skate isn't my thing but hey - fighting games, etc. Dynasty warriors is definitely one of my favorites. I'll have a few more demos. But as I said if I don't get this capture card tomorrow I'll go on without it.

i don't know much about the chip but it could be posible to program the chip to do those things (don't know if its supported native on the chip or if one would have to modify it)

Ummmm... where do i start:
try programing some sick tricks combos in the Skate3 demo
for a first person shooter try the Call of Duty:World at War (any game with semiauto guns will work) and try some rapid fire (try to time them to make guns semi-auto guns function like automatics), i have an idea for NaziZombies
try to program some Combos Dante's Inferno/Dynasty Warriors (you said Armored Core so they have a Gundam one if you like to mech games)
You could see how far you could program a GuitarHero song to play perfect (helpful if you like getting 100% on songs but there is just that one tricky part)
try some combos on some arcade fighter games Naruto/Dragonballz/UFC(realy arnt my type of games these are ones i seen skiming the store)
... Just try to find some demos for games that have button combos in them that would be benifical to the modchip because they are tedious...

I've tested this mod on a few demos so far. Let me say it's pretty boss ;]

Dark Sector, Fracture, and Armored Core. I know these aren't the games everyone is expecting but that's what I've done already :P

Anyways, I love the adjustable fire rate. 8 modes, 5 are pre-programmed, and 3 are programmable.

This is NOT my full review. I'm most likely going to write one that is at least 3 paragraphs or so.

In the mean time, please feel free to ask me questions or give me some demo names to download and test...

Again: Thanks BGR Mods for an excellent chip - Looking forward to hearing from you as noted in the instructions.

I will most likely have an HD video for everyone as well.

Nice job so far ionbladez, and +Rep! Once you do the final review/video etc I will move it to the Site News as well. Thanks again!
