58w ago - Following up on today's PS3 LV0 Keys leak news, PlayStation 3 scene developer Rogero has now updated his Rogero CEX PS3 Custom Firmware (CFW) to version 4.21 complete with a Dehashing / Syscon Reset tutorial for downgraded consoles below!
1- This CFW doesn't have LV1 checks disabled and can't be installed on Downgraded PS3 consoles unless you have Dehashed/Reset Syscon Properly (if you're not sure about your PS3, Dehash it anyway to avoid any risk)
2- Always make a NOR/Nand dump using multiMAN or memdump before installing this CFW to have a recovery backup in case of any bricks. Having a valid NOR/Nand dump is an essential step before upgrading, because you will always have a way to recover (using hardware flashers) when you have a valid dump.
A Hardware Flasher alone without a valid dump cannot fix your bricked PS3.
3- It's always better to have QA flag set (leave it Enabled) on your PS3 for safer upgrading/downgrading operations.
4- Always use the Recovery Menu while installing this CFW to avoid possible bricks (XMB update works, but Recovery Menu is safer).
5- TB CFW users must update back to OFW 3.55 before installing this CFW to avoid possible bricks.
This is a 4.21CFW spoofed to version 4.25 to allow SEN access
It can be used as a normal System Update from any 3.55 OFW/CFW/MFW
It was tested using a hardware flasher and no bricks or any problems at all were encountered
It can run games signed with Keys up to version 4.21 without any Eboot/Sprx patching needed
Games must be loaded from Disc Icon (with Original game in BD) and not from app_home
Current 3.55 homebrew application can't be loaded on this CFW, applications must be re-signed properly.
Downgrading back to 3.55 is always possible using the following steps:
Start the PS3 into Recovery Menu (or use Condor Updater for Slim consoles) and install "Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7" (from Recovery Menu, this is important)
Once the install is finished, you're now back on Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 (from here it's better to dehash again before installing any other OFW/CFW 3.55)
Credits to eussNL and the PS3 Dev wiki for the valuable and always up-to-date source of information. Credits to Deank for his continuous efforts on Multiman and many other PS3 tools/fixes. You need to already be on 3.55 to install this. Installing from any firmware other than 3.55 will simply not work.
PS3 Dehashing/Syscon Reset Tutorial for Downgraded Consoles
For all owners of PS3 consoles downgraded from 3.55+ using hardware flashers and Rogero_CFW_v3.x
To "Dehash the PS3" (Reset the syscon) and have the PS3 back to normal safer mode like any original ( non Downgraded ) PS3, here are the steps :
1- After completing the downgrade process and having Rogero CFW 3.x up and running, make sure you have the Blu-Ray drive attached or the QA Toggle package won't work.
2- Download the Rebug QA_Toggle package from here (toggle_qa.pkg)
3- Put the "toggle_qa.pkg" on USB and Install it on the PS3.
4- Run the "Rebug Toggle QA" from XMB, the screen will go Black and you will see HDD Led activity then if all went fine you will hear one Beep and the PS3 will Restart back to XMB.
5- If you want to make sure QA flag was set, go to "Network Settings" then apply the following key combo (all at the same time):
You should see Edy Viewer, Debug Settings, and Install Package Files if done correctly.
6- Now that you have QA flag set, Turn Off your PS3 and Turn it back on but into "Recovery Menu"
This Step is very important, it have to be from "Recovery Menu" and not a normal Update from XMB or the PS3 will Brick.
Here is how to access it:
a. Turn off PlayStation 3.
b. Turn it on and keep Holding The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again.
c. Once the System has been shutdown, Turn it on again and keep Holding The power button down (you will hear 1 beep first, keep holding) until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
d. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
e. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button
f. The Recovery menu will pop up.
g. Last Option #6 is what you must use "System Update"
Alternatively you can simply use CondorStrike's Updater package to enter Recovery Menu directly from XMB without going through the boot sequences. Download: Condor Updater v2.0
7- Now you must have any 3.55 OFW or CFW with original (non Patched) LV1 in your "USB:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP", here's a link to 3.55-Kmeaw. Download: Kmeaw355.PUP
8- Select the last option of the Recovery Menu --> System Update, then when prompted press and hold "Start+Select" for 5 seconds to start the update.
Once finished the PS3 will restart into XMB with the Syscon hashes reset back to 3.55 in both "ros0" and "ros1" and your PS3 is back like any original/non Downgraded PS3 that can use any CEX/DEX Fw without having to worry about disabling LV1 checks.
For anyone who have bricked with Green Light and Black Screen, you can try entering Factory Service Mode using a PSGrade Dongle (any old jailbreak dongle flashed with the PSGrade hex file)
Insert the dongle then start the ps3 with (Power then Eject) and if the PS3 shuts off by itself after few seconds which means it entered FSM (Factory Service Mode) you can try inserting a USB stick with the proper "LV2diag.self" + 3.55downgrader.PUP used in the first days of downgrading, if things went right, this could fix the Brick... it worth testing... Please if anyone bricked and can test this method post back the result...
Finally, Raiyou (via bbs.duowan.com/thread-29238182-1-1.html) has posted what is believed to be the problem PS3 models (pictured below) that are bricking as a result of specific boards, mainly JSD as well as having a base version of 3.50 and above including the CECH2025's that have never been downgraded and are still getting bricks.

One user of ps3pirata post and some people confirm the leak. It's cfw 4.21 v4 !
More stable and without risk of brick as they said ! Wait for more info, rough translation:
"Hello. A new and better Rogero CFW has been leaked. More stable and won't brick your consoles. Was leaked on ps3pirata.com and i wanted to share it with all of you. Tested it myself. It works"
From S4BRE (via tortuga-cove.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3661&p=9485#p9485): Rogero 3.7 v4 "leak"
There is a story going around that there is a leak V4 that will not brick your systems by Roger... Tortuga Cove has confirmed with Rogero there is no version that is brick proof yet, he is very close...
If you install this "leak" and brick then it is your own fault. Trolls will be very busy right now.... We will announce here when it is released and safe....
From Rogero (via tortuga-cove.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=127&t=3636&start=850#p9512): Guys.... after another sleepless and a lot of test builds, I say we're getting so close to a better version that will work on all machines including these that have Bricked with V1
Also about the test4 leak it could be that some tester wanted to share it and it got leaked, PLEASE don't install any test builds even if it was leaked somehow, the leaked link had test build v4, and i am at test build v8 now.
When i finish all kinds of testings and 200% sure of everything, I may release the new version.... until then please be patient....
i've done that i actually have 3 ps3s i have a fat on 3.55, i have a fat on 3.40 and i have this slim on this new 4.21 firmware, i just downloaded resident evil amazing spider-man, doa 5 so i can use on this firmware this is first time using this slim console updated it from 3.40 to 3.55 kmeaw then to 4.21 flashed drive installed multiman updated multiman.
none of the 3 games work asuras wrath and older games do new ones don't seem to load resident evil shoots back to xmb spiderman starts but after move info stays on black screen have to restart and doa gives me the 80010017 error somebody please help me fix this that has new games working did i miss a step
Can someone tell me if I install 4.21,4.25 or 4.30 CFW can I play all games that are prior to that firmware without patches? Like just get the game, no fuucking around, just transfer to USB and it'll work?
Haven't you checked if any of those games have been updated via 3.55 patch? I've erased all my games data and 3.55 patched updates.
Updated the games direct from XMB or using the PS3 Game Updates app (fastest way), including the last update no matter what game to update and worked for me. Also I've done a PS3 factory reset, NOT a HDD format. Hope that work for you! Sorry for my English!
