41w ago - Following up on the previous updates, today PlayStation 3 developers Estwald and D_Skywalk have updated the PS3 backup game manager known as Iris Manager to version 2.65 followed by IrisMAN 2.65-2 (Mod) by aldostools with the changes detailed below.

To quote, roughly translated: What's new in version 2.65:

  • Added supports for CFW 4.50 DEX and 4.53.
  • Added tools to create, extract and patch ISOs (Error 0x80010009) from PC (with source code and can be compiled at least from MinGW and Cygwin).
  • Added the ability to create, copy, delete ISOs (except in EXTx ) and extract ISOs from Iris Manager.
  • Added Error 0x80010009 fix for updates and ISOs (except EXTx) from the "Check Files" option.
  • New rawseciso (source code included in the. rar) with some bugs fixes and improvements against errors (even allows disconnect/reconnect the device), and includes support for HDD0, USB00X through a new mode (see launch_iso_game () in Iris Manager source code) and a mixed mode file/list of sectors for the Build ISO (see launch_iso_build () in Iris Manager source code).
  • In Archive Manager now supports Build ISO in all devices (FAT32/NTFS/EXTx) and detects extensions .mkv, .avi, .mp4, .ogm, .mpg as multimedia video files to launch "Showtime".
  • Now the current game is saved to return to that game during the game refresh and the last game launched to show when connect the device that contains it.
  • Added exception in the Archive Manager to detect if an ISO launched from a "BD ISO" folder is taken as Bluray Video.
  • Fixed several bugs like filenames too long in Archive Manager and added other small details and optimizations (such as now when a device with NTFS/EXTx partitions is detected, the USB icon appears blue during the waiting time before mounting.

Cobra Mode

Cobra mode only activates when Iris Manager is configured in *Payload without Disk* and syscall 8 de cobra in 4.46 is detected. In the mode is not necessary to patch explore_plugin.srpx but could be neccesary to patch libfs.sprx.

Supported Features

  • From NTFS, EXTx, /dev_hdd0, /dev_usb00x. drive:

PS3 games ISOS:

You can find them in folder "/PS3ISO". ICON.PNG you wil see it from the ISO itself but you can use a .PNG (wide) image or .JPG (stretched) with the same name of the ISO like a external caratule. That same caratule (i will have to fix this...) (The ones from Multiman with Titled ID). You could use splitted ISOS (if you need it) with the following extension: name.iso.0, name.iso.1,... name.iso.9 (2048 bytes/sector). ISOS can be inside /PS3ISO.

ISOS from DVD:

You can perform this only from "Archive Manager" (default mode). ISOS could be splited (if you need this) with the following extension: name.iso.0, name.iso.1,... name.iso.9 (2048 bytes/sector)

ISOS from Blu-ray:

Only from "Archive Manager" (Autodected of UDF by default, all in the same folder BDISO). ISOS could be splitted (if you need this) with the following extensions: name.iso.0, name.iso.1,... name.iso.9 (2048 bytes/sector)

  • From /dev_hdd0, /dev_usb00x drive:

PS3 games with scrambled files: Same mode with, Cobra's mount.

PS1 ISOS: Uses Iris manager support.

  • From /dev_hdd0 drive:

PS2 ISOS:

CD (without audio tracks and only ISO of 2048 bytes/sector) and DVD (2048 bytes/sector). Not supported USB flashdrives in this mode. ISOS could be inside /PS2ISO folder.

  • From any NTFS and EXTx drive and in Archive Manager:

From ANY device:

PS3 ISOS, BD and DVD from any folder. Using Autodetect.

Dinamic creation of ISOS:

Select one file, push SELECT and use "Build ISO from file" option to go back to XMB with Data DVD, ISO.

Dinamic creation of ISOS, with Showtime launch:

Select and push X over a file extension .avi, mp4 or .mkv (I created a DVD ISO of 32 GB). If Showtime is already installed this will execute automatically, select Bluray drive and done. (Showtime is slow to recognize and then play that file, but then plays faster)

Note about dinamic creation:

The trick is to create a small file in HDD0 with the name "iris_manager.biso" which contains ISO information and then add data sectos from the file.

Note on ISOS: It's VERY IMPORTANT that those files not be FRAGMENTED to avoid problems.

  • Archive Manager:

Has certain capacity to detect ISOS to mount them from any folder (avoid using PS1 ISOS), Creating ISOS dynamically, having only one file (SELECT and "Build ISO from files) or just executing from Showtime with files .avi, .mp4, .mpg, .ogm y .mkv. ISOS must be 2048bytes/sector and have .ISO extension or if it's fragmented in many parts, use extensions like: .iso.0, .iso.1.... .iso.9...

  • Options of ISOS in the GUI:

If you push SELECT we can select an ISO as favourite or unmount if it's NTFS or EXTx.

PS3 favorites are taken as preference to show them/execute them to /dev_hdd0, then ISOS and last /dex_usb00x

We can create, copy, delete and extact ISOS, we can patch them (except in EXTx) via "Checking files" depends disposible options for each game.

  • PSP games: No support.
  • Creating PS3 games ISOS:

From Iris manager, the last new tool *makeps3iso* (included in the .RAR files as PC ps3iso utilities (with src).zip or with Cobra ODE tool. You can do this from scrambled files: [Register or Login to view links]

NOTE: Is recommended to use patchps3iso with the latest version of your CFW, then create the ISO in your PC. This will modity PARAM.SFO and SELF/SPRX in case of this you need it.

Some examples:

patchps3iso my_iso.iso 4.46 -> Just for one file.

patchps3iso my_iso.iso.0 4.46 -> for split ISOS

Finally, from aldostools:

New in 2.65-1:

  • Added most (if not all) the features of Iris Manager 2.65, not annoying ads,
  • Display of file sizes in File Manager,
  • Added support for SITE MMQUIT in FTP to quit to XMB using my FTP Client,
  • Cobra plugins are not unloaded unless you hold X when the manager starts.

New in 2.65-2:

  • Fixed label for Build ISO menu.
  • Menu now use for: O = Cancel, X = Accept, /\ = No.
  • Added ability to abort in the “calc_entries” stage of the build ISO process

You need to install CFW 4.31 by Miralatijera: [Register or Login to view links]
Then you must update Iris Manager or Multiman to the last version.

No, Iris Manager can't patch the games like MM does. But maybe I could suggest that feature to the dev of Iris Manager, only I have a question, Do you know how MM patch those games? Only patch PARAM.SFO file or patch others like sprx or elf files?

To quote, roughly translated: v2.20 Changelog:

  • New payload v8 syscall eliminating the syscall 36 and used instead to 8 redirections. The syscall 8 works in a hidden in applications, thus respecting the other use that gives the syscall 8 in certain firmwares (LV1 Peek)
  • Added multiMAN method for disc-less from / APP_HOME (thanks for commenting DeanK how it works). This increases the compatibility.
  • Added patched explore_plugin.sprx method to launch the games from road / dev_bdvd when selecting / app_home/PS3_GAME. This method connects when “No Controller BDVD” and requires that each CFW patched module (see explore_plugin_notes.txt within patch_tools_libfs_exploreplugin.rar). Grid is a game thus far.
  • Fixed all (fcking) problems and other productions, as authentication based disks using CFW 3.41, 3.55, 4.21 and 4.31 (yes, I’ve been to them all)
  • Now HDD0 mounts are safer, both for the method how it can be accessed only “/ dev_bdvd” in reading.
  • Added ability to restart by pressing TRIANGLE on the main screen
  • Iris Manager now works in two ways, thinking about those who have BDVD operational unit and the voiceless.
  • New homelaunc1 (must be installed because the former will not work)

This is a summary of the disk operating modes: Available options are:

Requires Disc:

  • With controller, disk not only asks “Yes” if no blocking routes / APP_HOME. This may prevent it from interfering with games.
  • No Controller: obviously hard but never require it to “No” will be provided / APP_HOME (some games with trophies bug report, if this option is set to no). For riding HDD0 is protected.

BD Emu:

  • Mount BDVD: connects libfs_patched.sprx if present and mount the device as a unit / dev_bdvd. No controller is the most compatible option, especially with the “Required Disk” to “No”. With controller, disk required (but not cancel / APP_HOME itself)
  • LIBFS: simply connect the module and reroute the game / dev_bdvd and / APP_HOME if applicable. No controller is less compatible than “Mount BDVD”. With controller, disk required (but not cancel / APP_HOME itself)
  • Off: simply redirects the game to / dev_bdvd and / APP_HOME if applicable. It can work with or without disk, depending on the game

START-> Tools (Tools):

  • With BDVD controller: To work with or without disc. In mounting options using USB drives or in the case of a patch HDD0 / dev_ps2disc. When activated, it goes to the XMB (to be activated to reenter)
  • No controller BDVD: HDD1 is mounted in place. When activated, the unit is expelled if I had a disc inside.

NOTE: there should be no disk in this mode. No controller mode works well without reader (mine is unplugged right now) in 4.3 CFW bdemu Miralatijera with flag on). “No parent” when required disk mode, connect seeking explore_plugin.sprx that can be easily prepared by extracting from the flash, txt following notes:

The explore_plugin is used to launch games from /dev_bdvd in disc ausence. The CFW 4.31 Miralatijera includes the flag “bdemu” to work without BDVD controller, but you need also one path to launch the games: this is the path

  • Extract /dev_flash/vsh/module/explore_plugin.sprx using FTP or from PUP
  • Copy to the patch_explore_plugin.bat folder explore_plugin.sprx, scetool (scetool.exe, zlib1.dll and folder “data” with the appropriate key)
  • In the case of CFW 3.41 use patch_explore_plugin_for_3.41.bat because it patch the game category to debug too
  • Run patch_explore_plugin.bat or patch_explore_plugin_for_3.41.bat as the case
  • Rename explore_plugin_patched.sprx as explore_plugin_341.sprx, explore_plugin_355.sprx, explore_plugin_355dex.sprx, explore_plugin_421.sprx, explore_plugin_421dex.sprx, explore_plugin_430.sprx or explore_plugin_431.sprx to correspond with the firmware
  • Repeat: explore_plugin must to correspond with the firmware!!!
  • Copy the explore_plugin to Iris Manager folder (/dev_hdd0/game/IMANAGER4)
  • Enable BD-Emu options in Iris Manager “Without BDVD Controller” (press START, Tools) to work. With preference, uses “Mount BDVD” option because it moves the game to the root of the device (don't worry, the fake /dev_bdvd device is write protected)
  • Without explore_plugin patched you can not connect / app_home/PS3_GAME with / dev_bdvd and the mode is useles. Working on this

Is this version of Iris Manager able to auto-patch 4.31 games to make them work on 4.30 like MultiMan can do ?

If not.. is this going to be added to Iris soon?

I use MMCM since I'm on dongle 4.30 CFW but I like to switch to Rogero 4.30 to play the 4.31 games but so far it seems only MM 4.20 can patch those games and having to keep uninstalling MMCM / installing MM every time I switch CFW is becoming annoying.. so if Iris could patch the games like MM does then I wouldn't have to worry about that I could just have Iris / MMCM side-by-side without any complaints.

Cheers

Anybody that is using Iris can answer this question please?
