80w ago - Following up on Iris Manager 2.65 and PS3ITA Manager v1.30, today PlayStation 3 developer Evilnat has updated the PS3 open-source homebrew application to Iris Manager 2.7 (Unofficial) to support the recently released CFW 4.41 DEX compatible Custom Firmware releases.

This latest update is intended for PS3 CFW 4.41 DEX Custom Firmware, such as those from Gunner54 and Rancid-o.

To quote, roughly translated:

v2.7 Changes:

  • adding the payload for Custom Firmware 4.41 DEX (Evilnat);
  • adding the payload control fan for Custom Firmware 4.41 DEX

In related PS3 DEX news Hells Guardian shared a method for DEX consoles to Access Services such as Netflix, Hulu and many others without the need to block anything. It is said that this method should only be used for banned bonsoles, as they kick you off their network.. now you have kicked them off your PS3.

Access Services Hulu/Netflix etc without blocking anything!

Read the title folks this is quite handy for the netflix/hulu users out there who have been banned from the PSN. This will cause anything related to the PSN from logging in to creating an account to browsing the store and even the whats new section to simply return a DNS error 80710104. This also Bypasses all game update checks too!!!!

First you must be running a DEX firmware (rebug is my personal choice.) Steps to enable the bypass (this may work on some older CEX firmwares with QA flag but not on 4.30 but should work on all dex firmwares.)

1. go to debug settings and find the setting NP Environment
2. change the NP Environment setting to a blank entry delete whatever is there.
3. reboot your console and enjoy

Thanks for reading and enjoy.

Finally, from atreyu187: Ok this is weird, after doing this and reverting back to CEX since i have dual boot anyhow. Hulu and Crackle still work without PSN. Netflix ask for access to PSN still. And Amazon hasn't needed PSN since the CEX bypass was needed since it was just adjusting a ini file.

Ok I found out why it works. After the activation it allows you to stay signed in, reverting back to my old xregistry files Hulu asked for PSN access. Seems once you get banned like all legit purchases it becomes disabled.

Update: An UPDATED quote from Hells Guardian (updated on July 31st): Access Services Hulu/Netflix etc without blocking anything!

1. Must Start on DEX Convert it using the guides for rebug CFW..
2. In rebug toolbox under selector section set the following
Mode: rebug
XMB operation mode: Debug
Debug Menu: DEX
3. Go to debug Settings
4. Find the setting Update Server URL and change to anything (I used [Register or Login to view links])
5. Find the NP environment setting under Debug Settings
6. Change NP environment to a blank/invalid entry
7. Restart
8. Try to sign in to make sure you are blocking PSN access

The Following is optional:

9. Using the rebug toolbox revert back to CEX
10. Follow the on screen instructions to reboot (if it dosent just do so)
11. Try signing in. you should be greated with the same DNS error as when on DEX with an invalid NP.
12. Enjoy your CEX machine with a PSN bypass.

lol It's not overheating, that's the fan control (on iris manager Start -> Fan control & USB wake up).

When the fan control is active (payload) the fan speed is increased and the led blinks yellow sometimes. The temperature should be lower than normal.

If you want to disable it just set it to "SYSCON".

This Manager is terrible. Fan Control not operate correctly under Rebug 4.41.2.The GUI is nightmare. Nobody knows what to do ...?!? I'm disappointed, and will never come back.

Does anyone else have Iris manager make their PS3 go nuts? I'm on Rebug Rex 4.30.2 and it causes the PS3 to apparently heat up so badly the yellow light starts flashing, the fan goes to max immediately. Considering normal fan speed idles around 70C+ on the Cell, a yellow light warning must have been over 90C. Never before have I see this happen in a game or in another program. Nothing like this happens while using Multiman and using a fan controller program keeps the Cell at 64C and the RSX lower.

I forgot to mention this happens in both the animated and non-animated version.

Following up on their previous update, PlayStation 3 developers Estwald and D_Skywalk have updated the PS3 backup game manager known as Iris Manager to version 2.45 with the changes outlined below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links]

To quote, roughly translated: What's New in version 2.45:

1) Added German as a language (thanks toto67)

2) New update Simplified and Traditional Chinese (thanks Liqianyu)

3) Fixed a bug that disallowed games bigfile external USB disk to internal (in cache). We have included a small correction for those games that do not have more than one cached bigfile. Also added warning if it comes to launching the game with BD Emu ON (exite cache inconsistency between games and BD Emu)

4) Added a number of improvements to the FTP server: now warns if you exit the application (attention, if it comes with PS button will not tell) and FTP is conducting a delete function, reading, writing... covering up to 10 seconds from the operation.

It is also equipped with some error messages for that function fails if the network is not started or misconfigured occasional change.

5) Added a new thread manager to perform background tasks, such as icons recharge, now is not done at once, if not staggered. With this, the program gains agility when changing pages.

6) Some users have notified me that REX Rebug 4.21.2 CFW does not work when you press the PS event, so I've gone back to the old method for this firmware.

To mount with Disc-Less need without plugging a device to force an event right in the process that should receive. For that it is necessary to know the Event ID before hand but users are reporting to me and that I do not know the ID or using one that others do not work (in 4.21.2 using an ID that I found)

For this reason it would be desirable to send me the Event ID generated when you plug a USB device for each firmware to know them.

Reinstall IrisManager and go back into the fan control tool, set the fan mode to [SYSCON] and confirm it with [Set Settings] and it should go back to systems default fan speed.

StanSmith, try PS3ITA Manager as it has grids 6x4/4x3 as options under 'Setup Video' menu.

apparently the PS3ITA Manager port of this has configurable fan settings, i haven't been brave enough to try it but that may help

I have to use this to FTP files, for some reasons I can with this, but MultiMAN stopped allowing FTP connections, but I still use Multiman for loading my games with, as Iris only lists a couple of games, and doesn't find the rest.

I tried it and did not like. Is not userfriendly. With the start, the fan speed is raised. I tried some settings but do not get. Once i remove the program, the fan speed was still too high... Do not recommend !

I'm still waiting for the update that brings more icons to the screen. The 3x4 is not enough when you have heaps of games and want one near the middle of the list. Thats why MultiMan is still a little better, more icons on the screen at a time so less pages to scroll through.

Anyone else getting the yellow flashing led when they use IrisManager now? I load it up and the led goes from green to flashing yellow.
Is there a way to turn off the fan control in Iris? I bet thats whats causing it.

What was the last version before the fan control was installed? I want to use that version till its fixed.

I posted in the spanish forum where he is and he said he wanted to put that option in. I should go back and ask again to remind him.
