PlayStation 4 Ban Reported, PS4 PSN Ban Error Code E-82E0001D

33w ago - Following Sony's PS3 bans, today the first PlayStation 4 banning has been reported with the user's PS4 console receiving PSN error code E-82E0001D.

When the user was about to play Battlefield 4 Online this weekend, he received the following error code message: [E-82E0001D]

Apparently, the user was previously banned on the PS3 because of modding, meaning he most likely used the same PSN account.

To quote (via community.us.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-4-Support/PS4-got-banned-from-PSN-E-82E0001D/m-p/42393327#M25588): VastmanisH: PS4 got banned from psn on day 1, i played BF 4 last night, and when i came online, it showed me this. I need explanation now, so mad right now. Sony why you do dissss , Unban me please!

A Laggy Christmas: I got no mail, I was banned on ps3 too, so maybe because of that, but it was 8 months ago and because of modding.

I called and they were no help, they just said that this ban is permanent and because of a TOS violation.

Finally, from Dutch Sony PlayStation 4 hacker eussNL comes a brief guide, as follows:

Is my PS4 console / account : banned, suspended, closed or what?

Check the Error History : [System] > [Error History]

If any of these are mentioned, you cannot connect to PSN without Sony solving your issue (if ever ):

You should try and get this story on every PS4 forum and notice board you can find. Generate some bad publicity for Sony. This is a busy time of year for the console manufacturers, and something like this has the ability to put off potential customers, if it becomes public knowledge.

I was in two minds whether to purchase one myself this christmas, or wait till Feb/March. This story has made up my mind. I'm gonna wait a while, and see if the customer service gets any better. This goes for both manufacturers (sony/microsoft).

An instant lifetime ban, with no chance of a reprieve is ridiculous, and will also harm resale value! What happens if a load of PS4's that have been banned end up being sold online or trade-in retailers? I wouldn't think you'd get a refund, as there's no way to prove that the new owner hasn't got the console banned, especially as there's no feedback from Sony.

I hope you get this matter resolved, as the online stuff is a big part of the PS4 experience, and if you do get it sorted, I would flog it and jump ship to microsoft. It may not be ideal, but if you've been treated shoddily by one company, I see no reason to support their products.

Have a look at the picture. It says the console is banned. As you CANT hack the console there is NO reason to ban it. Doesn't matter what he did to the PS3 as that can be hacked but the PS4 cant so they shouldn't be allowed to ban the console.

I would take them to court. I've taken $ony to court 3 times and won each time. They dont like bad publicity and lawsuits so they settle before it gets there. I suggest he start the lawsuit and I bet it will be unbanned before it even gets to court.
