195w ago - Shortly following the
PlayStation 3 Slim Teardown from earlier today comes a video of the new PS3 Slim's bootscreen.
It incorporates the new PlayStation 3 Slim font logo, and speculation has begun that it may be included in the
PS3 Firmware 3.0 update that is scheduled to arrive on September 1, 2009.
If it's true, the question remains: Why in that version? Unless perhaps a core file changed... time will tell.

Actually the background isn't like that. The background on the slim in question was just the default moving wave thing. No extra sparkles floating around like in the 3.00 video. Also, note that in the slim video it doesn't have the updated area in the top right around the time.
Going back to the question at hand, couldn't Sony just give the slim the ability to overlay the new PS3 logo over the intro and have nothing to do with the firmware? Maybe the phat PS3s will never have that show and the slims always will.

OMFG... I asked you if you read the thread in its entirety before you commented! Thats basically what you should do on any forum to avoid pointing out someones enlightened mistake . If you did that you 2 would have more to contribute than something that has already been gone over
you said it's obviously 3.00 because the background theme is animated, and I said that is the default background on current fw PS3s.

This slim should provide some new exploit ideas to be tested. Just hope i dont have to buy a slim to get a hacked ps3
I believe the slim just has its own boot screen. The Slims that were sent to the media were the current firmware, and included no obvious features aside from the boot screen. They don't already have the animated theme. If you watch this posted video, there aren't sparkles or anything...
