To quote: Remote Play with PlayStation 3 is a new software feature for compatible VAIO models. It allows your VAIO to remotely access and playback certain content on your PS3 from virtually anywhere in the world.

Once the remote play connection is established between the VAIO and the PS3, the PS3's XrossMediaBar (XMB) menu screen appears on the display of the VAIO giving the VAIO playback control of your PS3.

From here you can playback your photos, music or videos stored on your PS3 with that content being streamed in real time to the screen of your VAIO.

For Australian customers who have purchased the Play TV Digital TV Tuner accessory for their PS3 this remote Play software allows you to either watch the TV recordings you have made on your PS3 or watch Live Australian TV on the display of your VAIO from anywhere in the world - great for the Soccer season if you are travelling!

Remote Keyboard with PlayStation 3 allows users to establish a bluetooth connection between the VAIO computer and PlayStation 3 so that users can make use of the computer's keyboard and touchpad to operate PlayStation 3 system non-game functions.

Remote Play with PlayStation 3 allows you to display the PlayStation 3 system on a VAIO computer and remote operate from the VAIO computer.

If a Play TV Digital TV Tuner (optional accessory for PlayStation 3) is available, users can also watch recorded TV programs or tune into live TV straight from the VAIO computer via the Internet.

Important Notes: The software available is only compatible with Windows 7 Operating System.

1. Please update the PlayStation 3 system software to the latest version.

2. To use Remote Play via the Internet, enable the router's UPnP function if the router in use supports UPnP. If the router in use does not support UPnP, you must set the router's port forwarding to allow communication to the PlayStation3 system from the Internet. The port number that is used by Remote Play is TCP: 9293. For information about setting this option, refer to the instructions supplied with the router.

3. Remote Play screen might blackout for a few seconds if the wireless LAN signal is poor or signal interference has occurred.

4. The connection to the PlayStation3 might be disconnected when it is established via the proxy server.

5. Blu-ray Discs and DVDs cannot be played. Copyright-protected video files cannot be played either.

6. AV Sync might be lost for a few seconds when Remote Play is started.

7. PlayStation 3 cannot be resumed by pressing Windows Key as "PS" button.

8. Other Bluetooth device cannot be used while using Remote Keyboard

9. Remote Keyboard with PlayStation3 and Remote Play with PlayStation3 cannot be used at the same time.

Could you please share how you got it running? (Hopefully not just running it on a Sony VAIO )

"8. Other Bluetooth device cannot be used while using Remote Keyboard"

why? i thought the ps3 could have 7 bluetooth devices attached at the same time. does this mean that you can not voice chat with a buddy via a bluetooth headset and text chat with another buddy with the vaio keyboard connected via remote keyboard software?

also, if you connect a ds3 to a vaio laptop via usb, and connect that vaio to the ps3 via remote play. could you use the ds3 to navigate the xmb and select content on the ps3 with the ds3 via vaio remote play?

i like the idea of remote play software for more devices than my psp, however it should not be limited to sony products. having ps3 remote play ability for the android os would be epic! screw the iphone, android is where it's at.

I got it to install on a dell here at work by clicking "turn off advanced text services for this program" under compatibility settings... dunno if that will help any of you.

I am now getting a directx dll file missing error. i will try to patch that up and see what comes next.

It's probably a fraction of the security that goes into their PE protector SecuRom that takes about 40 minutes to circumvent.

They'll probably do crypto off hardware IDs or maybe even trusted modules. It's still a matter of patching binaries though, maybe inline injections of the encryption buffers of some valid hardware or even keygenning if someone has the time.
