So no CD music ripping."
Those seeking to rip disc audio tracks will have to use Sony's Music Unlimited service.

Its not x86, its x86_64 which is the technical designation for x64. x64 is actually a misnomer since its just an extension on x86 and not really 64bit computing. Most operating systems, including linux, mac, and windows only populate 44bits of address space so you really only have 44bit computing. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86-64)
Also, the 8GB ram that you say lacks power is actually GDDR5 which is equivalent to what they use on graphics cards today. PCs will be moving to DDR4 later next year (I could be wrong here), so this is actually a significant power hike to the playstation environment.
However, do I think or expect that the new xbox will be any better? Probably not. What will be interesting will be the amount of security that is placed on both platforms seeing as how new games will essentially be PC games with dedicated controllers. Hell, its a wonder that we even have new consoles rather than a gaming standards compliance specifications that states the specs needed on every computer to run all games made in lets say 2013 for instance.
So no pics of the console yet... And the specs are so old. Everything on the PC these days is x64 but they make the PS4 x86? Proof the PC will be better. And 8GB ram? Again the PC kicks its rear.
GPU, I'm guessing its last gen PC version.
HDD, probably something stupid lile 120GB
I'm not impressed at all with it so far. From what I heard its a lot of hype they also did with the PS3 and never delivered so dont expect everything they said to happen. If they wanted a kick ass system make it better than the latest PCs at least.
Oh another thing. They also said the PS3 had a 10 year lifecycle. I dont think the PS3 has been around for 10 years and they are already replacing it.
With the specs of the PS4 it looks like its got a 2 year lifecycle as the specs are already 5 years old at least. My PC is 5 years old and it kicks butt over those specs.
That is exactly what I said, and what CJPC replied with HEHE. Below is the PS4 logo from the video footage as well:
And from the wiki (ps3devwiki.com/wiki/PS4) are some more details:
PC common GPU (capable of 30K polygon rendering)
8GB unified RAM
PS Cloud storage (Gakai) - buy/install part and download the rest while playing, demo's, uploaded gameplay videos (Share)
Share button (live gameplay videostreaming or screenshots to friends or Ushare)
Dual camera (move like)
no longer XMB, but using a Metro like GUI
PS Vita (RemotePlay)
Driveclub (sorta Need for Speed Clubbing)
The Witness (low res Myst/Riven with indypuzzles)
