Sony Blocks PS3 Proxy Methods, PS3 Firmware 3.42 Issues Arise

So do you guys envision some way of being able to play online with the jailbreak sometime in the future? Is it possible to play an xbox360 online with a backup?? Maybe a way for modded users to play each other outside of PSN? I know 1st hand that its possible to play Wii backups online, don't know the technical details but never had a problem getting banned or anything.

Just bought a PS3 because of the jailbreak 8 days ago and played Madden online a couple times before 3.42 hit... now I want to play but haven't even turned on the PS3 because I hate playing the computer. Without the ability to play online the jailbreak isn't really beneficial to me except for the few times a year when my brother visits.

Really jonesin to update, but also realize how long this jailbreak took in the 1st place so a way into 3.42+ could take a long while. I've got another 22 days to return it so I've been going back and forth on whether to update it and then return it and hope someone finds a way to play online soon and pick up another older/pre-3.42 unit.

As it is though, we've gotten further into the PS3's infrastructure in the past six months than ever before, so there's a high likelihood that we as a scene will hit that "butter zone" soon, and finally crack the PS3's encryption. Even though Sony built the PS3 as a secure system, they never imagined we'd get this far into it. I'm confident more exploitable holes will be found in the PS3's armor soon.

Maybe. But it's a good chance that will be encrypted so it wont be so easy.

Maybe we can edit a file with FTP for bypass the update ?

Actually game discs have PS3 updates on them. This allows people who don't have an internet connection the ability to update their PS3 for the new games they buy. Even if you fooled the PS3 into thinking it was fully updated when it is not, there is a chance the game may not be compatible until you actually update.

Since game patches/updates constantly change, you need an internet connection for those, but game patches/updates are not required to play the game (unless you are trying to play the game online, obviously).

I hope someone finds a work-around quickly. Maybe a RAM patch can be made to disable the check completely. I thought the official jailbreak device was suppose to disable mandatory updates? If this is true, and the open source/free solutions are a copy of what PS Jailbreak does, then why are we not able to bypass the mandatory check? This is a good question for those official PS Jailbreak users.
