London, 29th August: Leipzig's 2008 Games Convention may be over but Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) left the building with three coveted 'Best of GC' awards. Having displayed a wealth of innovative games and hardware including PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™), PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable), and PlayStation®2 at the convention, SCEE won awards in three highly competitive categories, carrying off Best PS3 game, Best PSP game and Best Innovation awards.

The winning products were:
LittleBigPlanet™- Best PS3 Game
LittleBigPlanet is a game that so defies convention that we've given it its own genre: creative gaming. Home to the small but mighty Sackboy, LittleBigPlanet is an irresistible world created by Media Molecule where creativity is part of the gameplay and playing is part of the creative experience. Teeming with places to explore, creative tools to collect and puzzles that baffle, it challenges gamers to make their way through it however they like, modifying and creating elements of their surroundings as they go.
Sackboy can design, shape and build both objects and entire levels using his intuitive toolbox of skills and materials - and, when gamers have created a level, they can invite anyone to come and share it via PLAYSTATION®Network. LittleBigPlanet is set to launch on 29th October, 2008 for PAL territories.

Resistance: Retribution™ - Best PSP game
Set in between Resistance: Fall of Man and the forthcoming Resistance 2, this handheld title follows a lone soldier on a personal vendetta against the deadly Chimera. With new characters, weapons and locations, Resistance: Retribution takes players even deeper into this grim, gripping alternative history of the 20th century. Resistance Retribution will be available for PAL territories in early 2009.
What the jury said: "Neither the small console nor the gamer can take a breather till Europe has been liberated from an extraterrestrial fleet of invaders."
PlayTV™ - Best Innovation
PlayTV is a digital TV Tuner for your PS3 that lets you watch, pause and record live TV from non-subscription channels - even while you're watching something else or playing a game. Whether you've planned a night out or want to watch something on a different channel, you'll never miss an episode of your favourite TV program ever again. Need to answer the phone? No worries, with PlayTV you can pause live TV.
You can also stream your TV content to your PSP at any wi-fi hotspot in the world. It gets even better: you can set up recordings via your PSP when you're out, meaning that you'll never miss a programme again. PlayTV will be available in the PAL territories from 19th September onwards.
