Rumor: Sony to Announce 500GB PS3 Move Bundle at E3 2010

229w ago - Recently we revealed a few new PS3 models uncovered through the FCC, and today CVG.com (linked above) reports that Sony plans to launch new PlayStation 3 SKUs that will include a 500GB HDD and come bundled with the Move Motion Controller.

The new PlayStation 3 bundles are also reported to include faster internal Wi-Fi cards, specifically 802.11n versus 802.11 b/g.

To quote: "Sony plans to release 500GB and 250GB versions of its slimline powerhouse bundled with the new motion controller later this year, according to our industry source in Los Angeles.

We were also told that the new PS3s will come with new faster internal Wi-Fi cards (802.11n, for those of you who know what that means). Current PS3s come with the slower 802.11 b/g standard Wi-Fi.

Basically, that means new PS3's connection to PSN and the Internet will be faster if you have an 802.11n-compatible router."

That may be the case if it isn't set up properly... I have zero issues with either my PS3 or my PC over wireless. I run driving sims with my PC and I have actually done a head-to-head comparison and there was no delta with the wireless connection.

Granted, I am not streaming movies, or even music, but I have no problems playing any online games. Sure, electrically the Ethernet cable is superior, but for online gaming, my view is that it is not necessary in most environments (noisy environments may require a LAN cable, though).

Forget the WiFi for those of us who use the best alternative - LAN cable shielded! No new Wi-Fi is ever going to beat that!

All that said, apart from the increase in hard disk capacity, i'm not very impressed. But the Move bundle is very interesting. Considering what Microcrap just dumped with its new black slim thingy - don't think i'm not excited. i am. but knowing what MS did last time it launched a console (i own an xbox and xbox 360) i will definitely wait before buying this new thing, as it's bound to have something loose or whatever that will need a newer version.

PS3 is rock solid, but i still think Sony needs to step up its game (roughly 7 hours to go before they drop down on the E3 floor and i've got to find a place to sleep by tomorrow) by launching a PS3 slim that heats up less, to begin with. My own PS3 slim and my friends', they all heat up way more than the last generation of Fat PS3. Good thing i have one of those as well to compare everything i switch them on.

The real verdicts will fall after E3, when everyone has had enough time to dissect the new hardware and test it out properly.

Is this type of WIFI typical or is it not as popular at the moment, cause if it isnt typical why would i put more money in getting a modem with it.
