197w ago - A few rumors to kick off the new week... Portuguese site GamersTek.com (linked above) is reporting that SCE is allegedly going to confirm a PS3 price drop to €299.00 today, noting that Spanish retailers including
Alternate.es and
Pixmania.com are already listing PlayStation 3 80GB + LittleBigPlanet bundles at a 25% drop.
Additionally,
NeoGAF is speculating on whether a recently uncovered YouTube 'Making of Batman' clip from the Rocksteady team contains a PS3 Slim at the 1:35 minute mark that was edited out.
A picture of it as well as the video are below, and to quote- roughly translated:
It was a worthy post in the forum NeoGAF and known who started the latest rumors about the declining price of the PlayStation 3.
According to the same, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will confirm today, Monday 10th of August, that the console will actually fall in price to € 299.00.
To give force to speculation, the chain of Spanish stores Alternate already put the PS3 on sale at that price. In turn, the British site TheSixthAxis contacted SCEE, which responded with the usual 'no comment rumors or speculation'.
What Sony really needs to do is get its head out of its butt, and realize that the PS2 is dead now, and they can go on to drop the price of the ps3 to around 200 bucks, which in my book is still expensive, especially now with this economy, people would buy a lot more systems and games.
This is coming from the 'average' household with a medium income. Not from the 'average' who is not affected by the economy.
I think when you watch the video pass by the system it's obvious that it isn't "slim" in any way.
