PS3 Media Server 1.50.0 Beta 2 Arrives for Windows, Linux & Mac

128w ago - Following up on his previous release, this weekend PlayStation 3 developer SubJunk has updated PS3 Media Server to version 1.50.0 Beta 2 for Windows, Linux and Mac which includes several bug fixes as detailed below.

Download: PS3 Media Server 1.50.0 Beta 2 for Windows / PS3 Media Server 1.50.0 Beta 2 for Linux / PS3 Media Server 1.50.0 Beta 2 for Mac

Transcoding of non-natively supported formats appears to be done on the PC side.

Windows Media Server was a little difficult to configure: I had to try to stop it from displaying scanned financial statements, etc. on my PC.

There is also TVersity. Anyone tried that?

is this really any better than the one built into windows 7. I kind of assumed that the ps3 did the encoding and codec side of things. Can a media server really add different formats?

I use the ps3 and xbox all the time to watch films

PS3 Media Server is the best because it's meant for the PS3 specifically, but any media streamer will work.

Found an app called PS3 Media Server; allows video to be streamed from a PC to the PS3.

Looks much better integrated (and supports more video formats) than the Windows Media Server.

Any other similar apps to compare this with?
