PS3 Media Server 1.40.0 Beta 2 Changelog:

General:

  • Built from SVN r813 (OSX version from r812).
  • Released as beta because many code changes haven't been widely tested yet.
  • People have been testing the SubJunk Build, but I have so many things in there right now that aren't in the official trunk so the testing doesn't apply to the trunk as much as it usually does.
  • This will hopefully give us a more trustworthy idea.

Changelog:

  • Updated OS X MPlayer to enable external VOBsub, ASS/SSA and Fribidi support
  • Allow update checks to be performed manually (Windows only)
  • Allow automatic update checks to be enabled (Windows only)
  • Simplify PMS customization for packagers of custom builds
  • Logging fix for headless configurations
  • Added experimental support for iPad / iPhone
  • Fixed DVD ISO playback on OS X (thanks, jjmojojjmojo!)
  • Added support for the AirPlayer app
  • Added support for Samsung TV model SEC_HHP_TV (thanks, coax-!)
  • Added Aperture support on OS X (thanks, coax-!)
  • Added thumbnail support for images (some code from [Register or Login to view links])
  • The cache is now reset after each up- or downgrade (for versions higher than 1.40.0)
  • Files with the extension *.vdr are now being recognized as MPG videos

Upgrade Notes:

For 1.23.0 and above:

  • Just uninstall the older version and install newer one

For versions prior to 1.23.0:

  • To retain your old settings you may have to copy your old config file/s to a new directory.
  • To find out where the new directory is on your computer, run the program and go to the Traces tab and look on the 14th line, the line that says "Profile directory:", that is the folder your config files should be saved now.
  • If you use the "media library / cache" option you should reset it.

To quote from SubJunk on the PlayStation 3 Media Server v1.50.1 Build 61 changes:

This build functions as the bleeding-edge testing version of PMS. Here you can find features and bugfixes before they are added to the official version, and sometimes ones that never will be. Changelog 1.50.1 Build 61:

  • Switched from using Git source back to SVN
  • Synchronised with official r1024 from r1014
  • Updated MediaInfo for Windows and OS X to 0.7.53 from 0.7.52
  • Updated MPlayer and MEncoder for OSX to SB22, in sync with the Windows version.
  • Updated MPlayer and MEncoder to SB22 (Changelog: MPlayer & MEncoder SB22 released Spirton)
  • Updated MPlayer and MEncoder for OSX to SB21, in sync with the Windows version.
  • Updated MPlayer and MEncoder to SB21 (Changelog: MPlayer & MEncoder SB21 released Spirton)
  • Updated MPlayer and MEncoder for OSX to SB20 (Changelog: MPlayer & MEncoder SB20 released Spirton)
  • Updated FFmpeg for OSX to 0.9.1
  • Increment year
  • Updated FFmpeg to r35509 from r31564
  • Try to fix tsMuxeR with newer FFmpeg versions based on FFmpeg #898 comment (ffmpeg.org/trac/ffmpeg/ticket/898)
  • Updated to latest versions of libraries (codec, jdom, logback and slf4j)

Thanks:

Shagrath for the main project.
Chocolateboy, lokkju, jscott, ExSport and idavies, in no particular order, for code contributions.
DPT, jpagie, mads and mazey for private testing.
Tianuchka for help with translations.
The dozens of users who provide feedback in order to let me know what needs to be improved.

FYI if you're looking for something to bypass cinevia protection, these newer versions are no go for you - they've removed this experimental feature due to legal concerns. They did start looking at this, but i don't think it ever ended up in the actual releases (it was in subversion at some point, but they've since removed it). As per their forum: ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7220&start=130#p58376

I'm not interested in bypassing cinevia, but thought others might be.
