230w ago - Update: Several users who updated to PS3 Firmware 3.42 have now confirmed (along with Sony [Register or Login to view links]) that Sony has indeed added 'additional security features' and patched the PS3 exploit used for PS JailBreak, PSGroove and PSFreedom as expected so it is advised you do NOT update if you plan to use them.

For those who just signed in to PlayStation Network, PS3 Firmware update 3.42 is now available to download.

While we can speculate on whether Sony blocked PS JailBreak with it, etc feel free to grab it below and report in the comments any changes you notice and we will update the news accordingly.

I haven't seen it mentioned yet but don't think that the hardware is totally patched out I would be suprised if it is. The reason I think this is because on my ps3 american 60gb 3.42 the ps3 takes 8 seconds to boot normally and 17 seconds with the ps3 trying to boot into jig assisted recovery mode. That would mean the jig hardware id is blocked or the software is patched or both but not unable to go into jig search mode.

Regardless of any of that the Ps Jailbreak team has already overcame this once and it is allways hardest the first time. Even if they bought the jig they should still have the contact or someone the contact knows who still works with them for the updated hardware id and such.

But then again with peak and poke multi firmware softmods and custom firmwares are only a matter of time.

Actually, depending on your model of PS3, some of them do indeed store part of the firmware on the HDD instead of entirely in flash, but as I said, only PART of it. Sony isn't stupid enough to store the entire firmware on the HDD so somebody can simply swap it out to downgrade.

Mate all you have to do is google that mswinsck filename and download that file... then place Logans and the ocx file in the same folder.

Or check out this guide: [Register or Login to view links]

i am stuggling with this the tool don't work on win7 64bit.

i copied both files in the folder but nothing that mswinsck does not exist in that folder i download the file and copied it there but still no joy. what should i do next?

Run-time error 5@

invalid procedure call or argument

I think nobody knows yet... It seems many know the existence of that log, but nobody have any kind of real info on it.

We need more infos, where is it, when is it sent, etc... As I said in another thread, we'll have to wait for Devs to tell us.

I've been trying to get a good answer to this since the jailbreak was released.

All I want to know is where the log file is stored? I've gotten conflicting information from this site and a few others. Some people say hdd, others say flash, none of them are devs. Really wish a dev would step forward and at least say something about it...

Sorry about that. I will not let anybody touch my PS3 no matter what. If someone want to then I have to be here to make sure not to updated FW. Now, you are stuck and hope someone will work around it. Maybe not.
