PlayStation Move Subcontroller CECH-ZCS1U Navigation Controller

228w ago - A few weeks back Sony's PlayStation Move hit the FCC, and today Engadget (linked above) uncovered the subcontroller dubbed the Navigation Controller.

The [Register or Login to view links] state that it will be officially known by Sony as the CECH-ZCS1U.

To quote: "Sony part number CECH-ZCS1U just hit the FCC's database, and "Navigation Controller" is written in nice bold letters right there on the label.

It's looking like this is official, as the Sony US Web site has been quietly updated with the change, and we think it makes a certain amount of sense, as most 3D games let you aim the camera with your dominant hand and relegate navigation to the other. Like the Motion Controller, Sony's opted for confidentiality on this one."

lol true i would probably not be the target market for there new controller. but then again i dont think im in the intended market for the natal either. i think the only difference between the wiimote and the Move is the way they track it (Sony went with the more high-tech camera where Nintendo went with the cheaper IR detector) while Sonys will be more accurate due to the type of "sensor" they are using all the documentation ive seen about it leads me to believe that its no more than an "Upgraded Wiimote" (they even have a plan for a nunchuck as this thread is originally about the patent)

In my opinion they should have developed more Sixaxis compatible games like High Velocity Bowling (lol i actually bought it just because it supported sixaxis, i am also surprised to actually meet someone else who played it) instead of redesigning the controller why not work with the capable motion sensing technology we have built into every standard controller.

lol sony is letting more and more of there *Wiimote* wait no the "arc" wait no i mean the "move" gimmick controller.

honestly do we need another wii wand (the controler is a blatent rippoff with some technical advantage) i mean how long do we have to deal with that crap. microsofts project Natal looks more interesting than this just because its not 10 year old tech thats being passed off as a "high tech motion controller" you are the controler with Natal. not this same crap that drove me away from the Wii.
Have you used the Move? ...and then how do you know it is just "another wii wand"?! From all the info provided to date, this is intended to take it to the next level. One of the biggest issues with the Wii is the lack of accuracy. This is intended to fix that weakness. Couple that with games that grown-ups actually like to play, and it sounds like a winner.

I still don't know how Natal is going to be realized. How do they simulate all of the buttons? What if I don't want to get off the couch?! One of the issues I have with motion controllers, in general, is that they are no longer casual controllers that I can just pick up and play while on the couch.

I don't like using the Wii-mote when in a chair with an arm... I have the same issue playing High Velocity Bowling, I have to stand up or I hit the arm of the chair when rolling. I may not be the target market for these controllers, but maybe you aren't either, laggmaster?

natal is cool indeed if they manage to design a hard-core game with the support of natal! like rpg or some fps games like real ones, but neither Microsoft or any 3th-party have officially claimed that they're developing hard-core games for natal (maybe in the future), devs said we are exited for this project that's it, so why do u think natal is better than sony's move? when natal is only an improved eye-toy, it's not the first time companies ripoff nintendo!, just because nintendo did it, it doesn't mean they shouldn't!

anyway sony's move is combined with a camera! i don't see the wiimotes track movements with a camera, plus wii is an amazing console our only complain is the old-gen graphics and the kiddish games, here u got a ps3 with an improved wiimote !

as i said natal is amazing but can the developers make real games possible 4 natal, i don't see that coming maybe the next-gen!
you touch on the point exactly, this stuff isn't for hardcore gamers but in my opinion Natal is more of the way we should be developing (one step closer to Virtual Reality).
