201w ago - It appears Sony is cracking down on those who are sharing their PSN identification and password to grant select items in PlayStation Home.
PSN game sharing is also labeled as violating the ToS later in the PS Forum thread (linked above).
Community Manager CydoniaX stated the following:
As many of you are already aware, there are members of our community who are requesting your PSN identification and password to grant select items in Home.
We would like to remind you that the Home staff will never ask you for your password, or any other personal information in Home.
The members of the community doing so are participating in activities that violate our terms of service. This is wrong, illegal, and most definitely NOT OK, and we will be handling these offenses accordingly.
Please be assured that we know who has done what. We know that many of you who participated in this are also some of our most dedicated and enthusiastic Home users and might not have been fully aware of the ramifications of your actions.

I'm not a fan of bans at all. If they have a database why not simply restore what people should have instead of banning the entire console and user.
Bans are like parents killing their kids instead of punishing them. I never did the hack but i dislike sony more and more for being so strict on this kind of thing. Does home make them a significant profit or is it just a bonus to owning a ps3? Is it not just a setup for future systems and growing the psn? If i got a free hat for my avatar why the hell should i get banned for that...
The hack even looks way too complicated to be widespread... so they are just being anal about it.
Anyway, if they accidentally ban legit users i hope they feel the burn of losing customers. Every resold ps3 is a new ps3 sale lost
In http://community.eu.playstation.com/playstationeu/board/message?board.id=b_EN_PS3_Home&message.id=200926#M200926 TedTheDog states:
...we have a list of content that people should have and can apply that to the database of what people here have
Basically, Sony has a tool run against the inventory db that allow them to determine who has what and who has exploit item.
One clarification on bans next week, a handful have already gone out but the bulk of them are yet coming.
I did not have a camera nearby during my conversation with GlassWalls but I can assure you what I say is true. I forgot to ask if the ban would include forum access so I asked this in a follow-up xmb msg.
I do not have specific information on that but based on my conversation I would assume a priority list of such things as:
possession of exploit items
performing the exploit
distributing exploit information
performing the exploit on the behalf of others
collecting money for performing the exploit for others
I had an excellent discussion with GlassWalls (head mod) yesterday. Anybody with exploit items (even through someone else) on their psn will be getting a minimum 30 day ban on their psn, console, and the forums. Bans range from 30 days to permanent. They will be going out next week. I have no ties to Sony, I do not represent them. I would strongly advise all of you to abandon your efforts with this exploit. Don't believe me? That's fine, you can find out the hard way. I'll be serving my time alongside you.
