Ever since PS3 Firmware 3.0 was first announced at GamesCom 2009 excitement has been culminating for the update's release.

Even Sony's Eric Lempel stated that it will indeed be the last major PS3 Firmware update of the year.

Those wondering what changes PS3 Firmware 3.0 brings to the table can check out the details direct from Sony.

That "PS3" logo startup is on 3.00 regardless if you have a slim or phat ps3

No problem... for those unaware, the last update (2.80) still showed 2.76 on the updater so that is why it wasn't initially a mandatory update.

Sadly, this one is required to go online with the PS3, PSN, Home, etc:

Dest=84;CompatibleSystemSoftwareVersion=3.0000-;
Dest=84;ImageVersion=00008751;SystemSoftwareVersion=3.0000;

If someone who updates their non-Slim PS3 with it can check if the new Bootscreen is now in it that would be appreciated.
