- EA has announced that the much-hyped free-running FPS Mirror's Edge will launch on November 11th on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with the PC version shipping "later in the winter". That of course means that it might not make 2008. Sad times for PC gamers.
Nevertheless, the publisher also confirmed that a demo would be available prior to release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, allowing gamers to trial a segment of the single player mode. Starting September 26th, gamers who pre-order the game at selected retailers will also get an exclusive code that unlocks a Time Trial mode in the demo.
"Mirror's Edge is bringing something new to the action-adventure genre this holiday by putting the player in the shoes of the hero, seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels," says Owen O'Brien
, Senior Producer, DICE. "We wanted to create an entirely new experience, with a different type of heroine and a world that not only looks fresh and new but has unique gameplay."
As EA were quick to remind us, Mirror's Edge delivers players straight into the shoes of Faith, a modern day heroine who traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat, fast-paced chases and challenging puzzles. And it looks great.
More information on the exclusive pre-order scheme as and when it becomes available, though you might want to think about the PS3 version. It's getting exclusive DLC don'tcha know?
