Gran Turismo 6 Updated Today, Red Bull Challenge Unleashed

17w ago - Sony Product Manager Ken Chan announced news today of the Red Bull Challenge unleashed in their recent Gran Turismo 6 PS3 update.

Below are the details, to quote: Gran Turismo 6 will be updated today with two new Red Bull cars and the Red Bull X Challenge. The challenge is part of a collaboration with Infiniti Red Bull Racing that includes 2013 Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel mentoring players in the art of driving an authentic formula car.

Owners of GT6 will have the opportunity to select the first two of four new Red Bull cars. The Red Bull Racing Kart and Red Bull X2014 Junior will arrive in dealerships in-game via the update, while the Red Bull X2014 Standard and Fan cars can be expected to join them at a later stage.

All of the new Red Bull X2014 cars have been designed for GT6 in conjunction with Infiniti Red Bull Racing's legendary Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey.

The collaboration between Polyphony Digital and Red Bull is another project which celebrates the franchise's 15th anniversary, and the free update has been provided as a special end-of-year gift for Gran Turismo fans.

"We are very grateful to Adrian Newey, Sebastian Vettel, and Infiniti Red Bull Racing for providing this special gift for Gran Turismo fans. To be taught how to drive downforce cars by the best racing driver in the world is very special, and the new Red Bull X2014 cars are another exciting addition to Gran Turismo 6.

This is the latest update for the game, and there are more to come," President of Polyphony Digital Kazunori Yamauchi said.

Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel added, "I've been playing Gran Turismo since I was 12, so to appear in the game myself as a mentor is great. I hope everyone enjoys the game."

The new version 1.02 moves the savedata to new files. It used to be gt6.* now its gt6_1.*

The old savegame is still there so if you go back to the original disk version without the update you will see the savegame before the 1.02 update.

I tried renaming the files but the game says its corrupt so that doesn't work. Best bet is to not upgrade until you have all the cars you want and an extra 20 million in the bank then update as you cant use the money glitch after that.

There will be a savegame editor soon I'm guessing so just wait for that if you have to upgrade or did my accident. Lucky on my CFW PS3 I can pick and choose what update to do so I'm sticking with 1.01 so I keep the glitch. I dont get online so no loss for me.

I also think GT6 sucks and GT5 is lots better. And both are missing lots of graphics so its still the worst racing game. The whole series of Gran Turismo suck. There are heaps of better racing games out there. Grid 1 + 2 are 100x better than GT. Even NFS is better and thats an arcade not a sim. You will have more fun with Test Drive unlimited 1+2 than you will have with GT6.

Im not sure how I feel about the daily bonus being added with this update, I prefer to race for my credits like we had to with GT1 and 2. The red bull cart challenge is lots of fun though.

Has anyone tried the money cheat with this update?

I'm wondering if they can patch it, I know its the original version with the bug but they could patch the cars in newer versions so it doesn't work. Lets hope its a bug they cant patch then anyone can instantly have $20mil anytime they want.

BTW, As usual for GT updates, its 1.2GB

EDIT: And yes they did patch the savegame so the money cheat no longer works. The newer savegame doesn't work with the original game.

They now have 2 savegames in the 1 folder. You'll understand when you copy the savegame to a USB stick then look at it on the PC.
I tried renaming the files but that didn't work.
