119w ago - Korean company LG wants Sony's PlayStation 3 and Bravia televisions banned in the US for what it claims are patent infringements relating to Blu-ray playback.
To quote from EuroGamer: "The
Foss Patents blog contacted Eurogamer to reveal
documents filed with the US International Trade Commission in Washington relating to the complaint. mThe ITC has the power to block imports of products that violate US patents.
LG claims Sony is infringing four of its patents in a complaint that broadly relates to "certain electronic devices having a Blu-Ray Disc player and components thereof", but the PlayStation 3 (Model No. CECH-2501A) is the only Sony product to be specifically named in the main document of the complaint.
A
Bloomberg reports suggests LG's claims are revenge for cases brought against it by Sony in December. Sony claims the Seoul-based company is infringing seven of its patents relating to LG phones. Sony has also filed a civil lawsuit against LG Blu-ray players.
LG and Sony are the world's second- and third-largest TV makers, trailing Samsung."
They say one thing on the surface and do another behind your back. Its clear that both of these companies are true rivals and that they are both greedy for power and money. But I have to admit, they really are trying hard sully each other and throw mud. Sounds like some classic bullying amongst rich spoiled bratty kids that are always used to getting their way.
Instead of using this as an opportunity to get to prove their integrity and show who is full of it, they cry and scream and pull the same thing because they are just as vindictive and immature. That almost always happens to dirty politicians, CEO's and companies who think they are better than everyone else and that somehow its OK for them to break the law and make money at the same time doing it. They would crucify the consumer in a heartbeat to displace blame and send a message to anyone who tries to stand up for themselves and has an ounce of integrity or self respect.
God forbid we try to make them practice what they preach and punish them. They get away with it all the time. They have the money and power to act like they are untouchable with the system in their back pocket because they do. Its sad. Classic hypocrisy of epic proportions. Oh well, if they keep this crap up soon some TV company like Vizio will use their time to gain market share by listening to the customer and taking their concerns into account.
They let their increasingly broad spectrum quality and excellent record of listening to and incorporating consumer requests and feedback to sell their products. This has proven to be a successful business model for many that don't feel the need to sling mud and slander one another. I used to like the quality of LG,and $0NY both.
That feeling of quality and consumer care seems to be loosing ground with each passing year.
Because Sony went after LG back in December. Serves them right but probably won't do any good.
