Xtreme Firmware for TS-H943 X-Box 360 released!

Commodore4eva has released the long awaited world first X-Box 360 back-up Firmware modification capable of booting all game back-ups. If you don't know which X-Box 360 DVD Drive you have, refer to the DVD_Drive_Comparison.jpg pic (included) and remember this release will only work with the Toshiba-Samsung drive version... not the Hitachi-LG drive version yet. Plug SATA cable from DVD drive to PC. Power cable drive still connected to Xbox 360 Power on Xbox 360 Power on PC Boot with standard dos boot disk with included mtkflash utility Run "mtkflash w /m firmwarename.bin" with relevant firmware file (Xtreme.bin for running backups or Xtrm0800.bin for security sector extraction) Extracting Security Sector --------------------------------------- Ensure DVD drive has been flashed with Xtrm0800.bin firmware. Drive can now work under Windows. Wow, just stepped in to take a look at what´s happenig in the X-Box scene. If this is what I think it is, I just might have to get a 360. So anybody try this out?

I don't have an X-Box/360 myself, but for those thinking of trying it word is you should be aware of the following:

1) You will have to remove your DVD drive from your 360 in order to FLASH it which VOIDS the warranty. 2) You will need Dual Layer discs to burn games, and your DVD burner must support DL (Dual Layer discs). It will not work with simple DVD+-R discs because the patched security section must be present on the 2nd layer. 3) If a game is region-locked, it must match the region your console is from in order to work... otherwise it won't work. 4) If you are a fan of X-Box LiVE, Micro$oft will (as they have done in the past) BLOCK your 360 serial # accessing the X-Box LiVE server FOR LIFE.

So basically, if you enjoy 360 on-line gaming and your warranty I'd pass until a more solid solution arrives, but if you're just seeking to play same-region 360 back-ups off-line then this may be worth checking out.

I don't own a 360, but I think this is cool stuff. I'm always for soft-mods.

Anyway I was wondering, would it be possible for someone to make a disc that runs on the hacked firmware, to restore the original firmware without hooking it back up to a pc? I know someone who would love this mod, but I think he likes playing online and would need to restore it to original before accessing, yeah?

you need to restore again the firmware, but if you have the firmware hacked and only plays original games into live there is no problem, isnt it? can microsoft ban me?

Microsoft could possibly check your firmware. However if you backup your original firmware and reflash it whenever you want to play on Live you'll be fine.

Wow! Very nice! I don't have an Xbox360, but if I had the one with the right drive, even after reading the instructions, I don't feel myself confident to execute the firmware exchange. I would need a step by step procedure with pics and more detailed explanations . The back-up iso needs a preparation as well. But now I know which X360 to look for. I'm very excited with the news! :grin:
