Cool Wii Scrubber v1.0/v1.0a released!

Dack has released a very useful tool. WiiScrubber v1.0 allows you to 'scrub' away the garbage data of Wii ISOs and in most cases drastically reduces the size of the ISO. However this is not just for smaller storage, the ISOs still work on the Wii AFTER being compressed. Source code is included as well.

Update: Changes from 1.0 to 1.0a:

1. Way of scrubbing changed slightly so that the sector crypto header is left
unchanged. This makes it a bit more difficult to detect but lessens the compressability.
2. Disc Filename display corrected so titles like MoH2 show correctly

From the ReadMe:
Quote:
This is first release of an application I've been playing with.

It allows you to:
1. open up the WII iso's and extract individual files from them
2. Change the iso so that unused areas are overwritten with 0xFFs. This
has the effect of then making the ISO compressable

You need:
You will need a copy of the ubiquitous "key.bin" in the same directory.
You should not need to install any extra runtime files.
A descrambled wii iso
Plenty of disc space
A fair bit of time.

How to use:
Copy the key.bin file to the same directory as the exe. (included)
Load the software.
Load the ISO file by clicking on the 'load iso' button
What the program is doing appears in the bottom window
Disc filelist appears in the top window as a standard treelist
Name of game and size of the data on the disc appears in top right

How to extract files:
Only one at a time at present
In the treelist click on a file to select
Right click the mouse button
Select 'Save' from the popup menu
The fields on the filename shown are:
name, partition, Offset into decrypted file, Filesize

How to scrub the disc:
Click on the clean and save button
This creates a copy of the loaded ISO with the same name but (compress)
appended to the name before the .ISO part (so SPM.ISO would become
SPM(compress).ISO).
You still need 4.5 Gig of storage at this point but can specify which ddrive etc.
to save it on
Compressing this image should give you a figure close to the size of data
detailed earlier

Cool WiiSrubber v1.1b

Dack has updated the popular WiiScrubber to fix the problem with Mario Kart Wii not being able to install the Mario Kart Channel.

The new version allows the unscrubbing of files with a special .dif file for the ISO in question. Restoring Mario Kart to its original state will fix the Mario Kart channel not being able to install.

Wiiscrubber 1.1 - BETA

Updated release of an application I've been playing with.

Whats new?
1. Allows for creation of DIF files to allow unscrubbing of data
2. Allows for merging of scrubbed and dif files to produce original ISO
3. Also works on gamecube discs but probably still better to use GC Tools
4. Display of region and number of files in disc
5. Key.bin verification - to stop the 150Meg files
6. 4.5 Gig limit removed - now at Dual layer
7. Different scrubbing options available See below
8. registry saves for chosen options
9. If you don't have the key.bin you can still unscrub

Bug fixes:
1. Release version bug now corrected thanks to Juster.
a freed pointer was accessed just after being freed.
2. Several text display bugs cleared.
3. File size now checked during processing so that ALL of the ISO is copied)
4. Gamecube offsets now correctly accessed (they are different as they are not
encrypted so you have the full 32k in each block)
5. I actually check for file read/write errors

It allows you to:
1. open up the WII iso's and extract individual files from them
2. Change the iso so that unused areas are overwritten with 0xFF/0s. This
has the effect of then making the ISO compressable

You need:
You will need a copy of the ubiquitous "key.bin" in the same directory.
You should not need to install any extra runtime files.
A descrambled wii iso
Plenty of disc space
A fair bit of time.

Talking WiiSrubber v1.2

Dack has updated his Wiiscrubber program. WiiScrubber is used to shrink a Wii iso's filesize when compressed.

In this new version, ISOs can be compressed smaller. There are a few other changes, as well as some bug fixes. See the changelog below for more information.
Quote:
What's new?
1. Smaller compressed sizes possible as a bug fix was marking data that wasn't actually used.
2. Allows for replacement of files on the ISO -i.e Right click LOAD menu works
3. Allows for replacement of files larger than the original
4. Auto Trucha signs if a file is replaced

Bug fixes:
1. Another 32/64 bit error meant that I was marking data used that wasn't. This saves about an extra 100-200 Meg from an image.
2. Few display errors corrected
3. A 32/64 error meant some files could not be extracted correctly

Thanks to Waninkoko for releasing the source of the WiiFrii code as it allowed me to implement the Trucha bits.

(you can now delete them and resize the data area)
2. Increased speed of file replacement by blocking it (and progress bar)
3. Extra couple of links in the about box

WiiScrubber 1.4 Multiboot

From Dack, via the ReadMe file:
Quote:
*sigh* Just couldn't leave it alone version. Lots of changes, some subtle, some not so.

Whats new?

1. ticket.bin is displayed under the partition.bin breakout
2. cert.bin and tmd.bin can now be different sizes
3. Extra button for Trimming an ISO - this makes an ISO slightly larger than the indicated data size - USES TRUCHA
4. Confirmation window on Shrinking partition
5. Proper Korean key support so can open and scrub/trim/extract/replace Korean ISOs
7. Deleted the 'force Wii' option as I followed the advice of Marcan
8. Partition support corrected due to a Wii limitation on Primary partition (you can only have
three partitions in the primary. To paraphrase Star Wars "Many verbatims died to bring you this information").
9. Can save/load/import crypted partitions making replacement much quicker
10. Full 4 partition offset support
11. Partition titles displayed in the window.
