November 8, 2006 - First hints at the kinds of numbers we can expect for the Wii in Japan have come our way via Japanese tech site Nikkei IT Plus. According to a recent report at the site concerning the upcoming PS3 and Wii launches, Nintendo will have 400,000 Wii units at retail on 12/2, the day of the Wii's Japanese launch.
Nintendo is still aiming to ship 4,000,000 units worldwide by the end of the year. It's unknown how this will break down on a territory by territory basis, but North America is expected to get the largest number of units.
In Japan, retailers are just now starting to take pre-orders for the December launch.
