Did you read the UMDGen Tutorials by chance? They mention nothing about connecting your PSP to your PC to rip games. If you're trying to do that, you don't need UMDGen... instead Search the PSP Chat Forums for relevant UMD Dumping topics. UMDGen is only to rebuild ripped PSP game files back into .iSO file format, not dumping/ripping games or connecting your PSP to the PC (which isn't how you rip PSP games you'll discover upon further reading).

Hello.
This is my first post hear, I am Spanish and I not an expert on English, so take care with me language  (I could use diferent words to try say the same)

Whell I have tried UMDGEN on two computers both with XP Pro, but one diference. the OS on the 1st computer was on English (job) and the second one was on Spanish (home).
On the first one (englsih), all works OK, inserting folders and creating the iso file, the PSP_GAME folders was on drive d:\temp\ when I drag an drop I did'd have any problem.
But when Arraive at home, I tried the same, but at home the Drive where I was trying to drag was on e:\PSP\TEMP and I was unable to drag it into the UMDGEN, so I tried diferents thinks.
As the umdgen.exe I have in other drive c:\ I though in a posible problem managind disk and folders and tried to copy the exe file to e: at the same level as the folder I want to drag and execute form it. Doesn't work.
So i tried the second one move the folder to my desktop and try to drag from it, doesn't work, so finally I move the folder to c:\ on root and drag from it.
Fiinnaly it's works for me.

So really I don't know where is the problem but on my XP on Spanish I need to have the folders I want to drag in to c:\ , on the system on English I can drag from Everywhere.
I don't know if really this is the cause, but it's the only diference that I can see on both systems.

I hope this help to some one.
Regards
From a new reader :-)

the pad files are not needed when running an iso off the memory stick.

hey, i've been trying to rip gripshift, having a lot of trouble.

i realised that gripshift contains files that have the same name as each other, but different cases, therefore when you extract from winrar you lose some files. i figured that the best idea would be to mount the original iso then drag the files from the mounted iso straight to umd gen.. unfortunately it won't let me drag folders from a mounted cd to umd gen.. any ideas?

has anyone actually managed to boot a repacked iso of gripshift, even without anything ripped?

cheers

That makes no sense... when you extract from WinRAR you should end up with (1) single .iSO file. Not multiple files... unless you aren't doing something correctly. Once you have the single .iSO extracted to your PC, then use IsoBuster to extract the multiple files, and you shouldn't have any problem (I've done it here, works like any other image). As for rebuilding Gripshift to work, it's more involved as there are extra checks in it (you can check out the Gripshift LBA Fixer though, although many can't get it working correctly)... so it's probably not the best game to start with if you're new to this unfortunately.

Actually, it does make sense. Support for opening .ISO files has been added to later versions of WinRAR. I'm using WinRAR 3.41 and it can extract files from ISOs with no problem. You may want to disable the "Flat folders view", though (Options >> File List). Also, you should enable "Path/Folder Extraction". As for mounting the ISOs, I think this feature might be helpful. You can patch the ISO and replace the files directly with less impact to the file sequence and am I even making sense here?

Anyhow, on to my question. I'm trying to rebuild an ISO of Bleach Heat the Soul JP (the first game, PSP-Dev version - still waiting for the UMD from Lik-Sang to arrive) to make it fit into a 256MB stick. What I did was replace some PMF files (1000.pmf-6000.pmf,12000.pmf) with the Blank PMF file I found in these forums. I was able to reduce the ISO to about 190MB. However, when I tried to run the rebuilt ISO via Fastloader 0.7 and UMD Emulator 0.8c, the game loads up to the "$ony Computer Entertainment Inc Presents" screen, then my PSP screen blanks out and shuts down. Has anyone had this problem? Does Bleach maybe have an LBA check file or something?

The ISO was rebuilt several times using UMDGEN 1.00 and UMDGEN 1.02. Files were extracted using ISOBuster 1.8. I'm using US Firmware 1.50 (never been upgraded/downgraded).

Thanks!

EDIT: I tried to rebuild the (downsized) ISO with VCDROMX and it works. For testing purposes, I also tried to rebuild the full dump for Bleach without ripping out anything using UMDGEN 1.02. The orginal ISO is 308MB and the UMDGEN ISO is 302MB. Gave me the same problem when ran in Fastloader/UMD Emulator as the earlier ISO builds I made with UMDGEN.
