Correct, aside from the layout being coded specifically to work with PSP images it can do what VCDX does and more, such as adjusting file LBAs for example. The nice thing about UMDGen is it's written by people who follow the PSP scene (and these Forums) so features can be added as time goes on and $ony beefs up their PSP protection.

Still, mucho kudos to the ripkit author for a much-needed public service for those of us with 1Gb mem stix!
While running the .bat file, i get an error about 2/3 of the way through, causing the process to abort. I have the MidnightClub3.Dub.Edition.USA.PSP-YERSiNiA release verision with the iso named as YSA-MNC and yet the program still crashes.

When i use this ripkit, it works fine and everything, but when i load it (UMD Emulator V0.8). It seems to read the memory stick for a while... more than 2 mins.

p.s. sorry for being such a noob, i just dont get it. Thanks
You will probably be better off searching our PSP Chat Forum, as to do what you're seeking (run PSP iSOs from MS on your v1.50) you do not need UMDGEN in most cases. UMDGen is for those who are more into ripping PSP iSO images and then rebuilding them, whether it is to make them smaller to fit onto a smaller Memory Stick/more games per stick, or changing some of the files (music, for example) and then running the UMD Rips on their PSP MS. Hope this clears it up a bit.

Perhaps check out the existing TOE English Patch thread... as it seems others have the patch working OK there, so chances are it's something you are missing when working with the patch files. Good Luck!

Probably a dumb question, but could umd gen be used to create a umd iso from a psx or ps2 game. i understand that the coding is different, but it seem worth the ask. thanks
