PSP_GAME folder not added - PS3 NEWS

Hi!

I've read that some people are experiencing this problem, so I thought I'd open up a topic!

I'll discribe what I do:

1. Extract ISO with WinRAR
2. Open UMD Gen (v1.00)
3. Drag PSP_GAME & UMD_DATA.BIN to the main window

The UMD_DATA.BIN will be added to the files, but the PSP_GAME folder won't..

Specs:
Windows XP SP2
Intel Pentium M 1.7 GHz (Dothan)
1024 MB RAM
ATi Radeon Mobility 9700 (Omega Drivers)

Any ideas?

Hmm, I unchecked the box next to "Read-Only" and now it seems to work.

The compess option was already switched off btw.

Same problem. I am troubleshooting it for a couple of hours now and I'm not able to find out what's causing it. Absolutely no folder can be added (no matter if there is a file tree beneath the folder or it's simply empty). Separate files can be added just fine. I tried the suggestions on the thread pointed above plus everything else that I could think that could be relative:

Illegal path lengths
Open and/or locked file handles
File permissions
Windows Compatibility Mode (since the system tested is running Windows Server 2003/SP1)
File attributes

On the note of file attributes. The only thing the folders have in common is the read-only attribute issue.

If UMDGen is somehow affected by this issue, I can't think of a workaround... it happens even if the "Everyone" security id has full permissions on the folders. But then again I could be entirely off since I am just speculating on the only common detail on the folders I tried...

i made it work after i decrompessed it (properties) then made sure that the thumbs.db file didnt recreate itself automaticly, then click-dragged them into umd gen, viola! it worked i think its the thumbs.db file

Yes, Always remove thumbs file from PSP_GAME folder or UMDGEN don't see it as a folder, and cant open it an create the iso. I was having this trouble with The Con, and now the iso is ok. You have the answer. Sorry for my english. bye

even in the lates 1.02 version... I've spent some time testing it on multiply computers with W2K and WXP and it didn't work on ANY of them at all. I've tried everything possible including Permissions settings, switching off the firewall etc. but to no avail. I've manage just by chance only once to add one folder which I was never able to reproduce again :-(

My conclusion is that UMDGen is not at the moment capable of proper handling of NTFS disks because as far as I've put the extracted image files / folders to FAT format drives / volumes it immediately worked on ALL tested computers. And YES - I've checked if the folders are not read only (even using the DOS ATTRIB comand due to the WINXP "stupidity" of not handling the Read Only attribute on folders correctly and NO I had no thumb.db files inside of any folders as well!

So - as a workaround till (hopefully) this problem will be resolved in next version of the utility I'll suggest to put the extracted files from the ISO on FAT formated drive / volume - e.g. external disk or USB memory stick etc.

Well, I don't know how to explain.. but just a silly try and error, & I found how to solve this problem. Honestly, really a silly stuff, steps are:

1. extract and mount your ISO as virtual drive (whatever type)

2. prepare a temp folder (my own practice "PSPTemp") and copy all the files and folders from the mounted image to the selected folder (PSPTemp)

3. U can drag the files & folders to UMDGen box then!

I'm wondering if "PS3News.COM" have try it before? hope these things would help :smilew have a nice sunny day @-@
