well as you guys know I am making a gui mod. I want to know how to read a iso file and extract the icon0.png from it. umdgen does this so it would be great if I got ahold of the source or something so I can add it into my mod.

also umdgen reads the sfo file. that will be great for my mod too to show what game in text is selected and the icon0 of it.

so please help.

Reading the Param.sfo file:
Read @ offset 0x128 for Disk ID
Read @ offset 0x140 for Disk / Game Version
Read @ offset 0x14C for Firmware Version
Read @ offset 0x148 for Parental Level
Read @ offset 0x158 for GameTitle

Reading an ISO is too 'in depth' to explain in brief. I suggest you read up on ISO9660 format as it is a lot similar to UMD.

A great place that helps out beginner programmers is a site called planet source code, do a google on it. I got alot of help with my HDA program from there. You should check it out.

To UMDGen: I wouldn't help him anymore with this, as I've read he posted this elsewhere:

Well umdgen team did not give me any code so I cant read iso or umds. If u want those feature go bug them. I dont think there will be anymore updates for a while unless someone knows how to read an iso to extract out the icon0 and sfo file.

Basically, you already gave him the info he needs... if he can't code it up himself then that is his problem- not ours.

Apparently TheBuzzer feels he has the right to come here and demand that we spend our precious time to code him something... this doesn't fly in my book, so alas I'm closing this thread up.

I do wish him the best in his project, but it appears he's going about it wrong if he is trying to force others to partake in it. He should just be patient if he can't do it himself and wait until someone (who has the time and desire) willingly codes it for him to add in. :smilew
