    UMD Movie region question

Is the region code part of the hardware or the firmware? I wonder if it will ever be possible to watch region 1 movies on my jap psp...

So Japanese PSPs definetly region 2? I have some people saying a Japanese PSP won't play region 2 (European) UMDS as its region 1, and some people saying it will :| Seriously thinking about importing one (To the UK)

    PSP JAPANESE = REGION 2
    PSP USA = REGION 1
    PSP EUROPE = REGION 2

UMD MOVIES USA = REGION 1 (NOT COMPATIBLE WITH JAP/EURO PSP)
UMD MOVIES EURO = REGION 2 (COMPATIBLE WITH JAP/EURO PSP (i think))
UMD MOVIES JAP = REGION 2 (COMPATIBLE WITH JAP/EURO PSP (i think))

That is what DVDs are like so I presume that is the way for UMDs

Is there any homebrew-programs that lets you play European UMD on a American PSP ?

Is it like it reads the regioncode at the start of the disc? Have anyone tried to swap disc while loading movie ?

It is possible, just flash the Firmware 2.0 us on your jap PSP, it works perfect, i have a us psp with 1.50 jap firmware, now it plays the european movies :-)

PSP movie regions cannot be cracked as of now.
I just know that the games do not have any region coding on them...even if it says it does. Playing TOCA 2 Region 2 on a US PSP and Bleach on US PSP.

Anyway, you could always rip it and remove region coding and put on your MS =P
