Sony European Product Manager Mayumi Donovan has announced that the Skype PlayStation Vita application is getting an update today.
To quote: Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying catching up with your friends and family using Skype on your PlayStation Vita.
Today I'm happy to announce that this great app will have new features which let you enjoy connecting to even more people.
You can now create a new account directly from your PS Vita system, as well as search for friends on Skype and add them to your Contacts. You can also use "Favourite", "Online" and "All" to manage your list of contacts.
If you want to change your profile photo, just use your PS Vita system's front or rear camera to take a new photo and replace it. Or you can simply use the photos in your PS Vita collection.
The new features do not end there, either. You can now add Skype Credit from your PS Vita and make calls to mobiles and landlines if the person you're calling is not online. You can also receive or delete voice messages directly from your PS Vita.
The update will be available from the LiveArea screen of Skype - just select the update icon to update Skype and enjoy all the great new features. If you do not have Skype for PS Vita yet, head over to PlayStation Store now - it's free to download.
