Rumor: PSPgone - Sony Discontinuing PSPgo Handheld Console?

Update #2: According to http://www.industrygamers.com/news/psp-go-not-dead-says-sony/, a Sony Computer Entertainment America spokesperson confirmed on the phone today that production is indeed continuing for the PSPgo in North America.

Update: It's now official, as reported by http://www.phileweb.com/news/hobby/201104/20/679.html (via http://psp.ign.com/articles/116/1162913p1.html) and http://av.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20110420_440959.html (via http://kotaku.com/#!5793843/its-official-the-pspgo-is-dead) to quote: "New PSPgo units would no longer be manufactured or shipped 'in order to concentrate on the NGP'. The remaining PSPgo stock, however, will continued to be sold until it's gone."

Today Andriasang.com (linked above) reports that according to a http://ctec3.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2011-04-18-1 Sony has ceased production of the PSPgo handheld with their http://www1.jp.sonystyle.com/Qnavi/Purchase/PSP-N1000/ page now showing the PSPgo as discontinued.

To quote: "A blog that appears to be run by a Sony Shop employee (or at the very least a super hardcore Sony fanatic) reports that Sony has confirmed to his sales manager that production on the troubled portable system is indeed ceasing.

The blogger's shop won't be getting any more shipments.

This talk of PSP go's production end apparently began recently when a link to the PSP go was removed from the Sony Store games page. You can still access the Sony Store PSP go product listing, although you can't actually order the system because there's no stock and no forecast for when stock will arrive."

Hmmm... After everything that has occured with Sony in the past month this particular action seems to come well expected.

Yeah well, who would want to buy this when the new PSP is so much more functional and powerfull!! The sales must have dropped like the reputation of a hacker looking after it's e-peen... hehehe

lol oddly enough I don't think they are too worried about losing the pspGO sales, they were abysmal from the get go.

I have updated the main page as it's been confirmed now that Sony has halted production of the PSPgo to focus on the NGP handheld console.
