    PSP is underclocked...to save battery life?

    I found [Register or Login to view links] today and it makes sense unless it turns out to be a rumor. Will we see better performance in games or will the PSP get warmer than it does now after prolonged use, after the better battery pack is released, we shall see in due time. Will this work with 3rd party batteries that provide more power if someone else figured out how to overclock it.

    "They have an extra fifty percent of it's current performance ability simply waiting in reserve to be unleashed at a later date."

    Current Performance = 222MHz
    Top (Max) Performance =333MHZ

    50% of 222MHZ = 111MHz
    222+111=333
    333=333

    Statement is true.

    Get it?

    You just read it wrong.

    Errrrr, where did i read the whole situation from.
    Yes the psp games are limited to 222 mhz. But for the gb emu's or snes emulators, the cap is not there, they will run at the full 333.
    Yes capping the processor made the battery long enough that people will except the batterly life( Who would want the battery to last like 2 hours :P.). But the deal is its capped in the actual game programming. So when they do decide to let the game makers use the full processor power, there will be no actual boost in performance for the old games, as the limit is coded into the actual games :P. Maybe thats why wipeout, and the other pd releases werent the full 1.8(or whatever) that they could be. :P
