Possible Project

Figured I'd bring up my idea here since the instructions for how to hexedit are in this thread. Anyway here's my idea for those who are hexeditting challenged *raises his hand* (I'm a graphic designer and a matte painter, not programer) would it be possible to create a program that had a database of a rather large amount of PSX games so that all the user had to do was just type the name of the game the program would query its database and do the rest.

However if the game wasn't found it would have you manually enter the id number for the disc and use that and at the same time save it to its database at the same time. I figure it should be that hard since all the games have the same basic structure yeah? And you can put in the stituplations that all eboots have to be created using hot shots golf 2. I already have a rather extensive list of psx games and there CORRECT id numbers, I'm just formatting it so it looks all nice and pretty so you wouldnt have to go hunting down any, unless your game didn't make the list. Let me know if your interested and I'll tell you more about my idea.

I downloaded it and it does "seem to freeze". However, you have to realize it's opening a very very large file in binary for editing. That takes a while. Let it work.

It is just a pain in the but to play...some of the tombs have some fuzzy grafix but I have played for a few hours - very nice! I think this emulator is the best thing to hit the PSP.

Yeah, I think I am now adopting your original opinion. It does simply not see to work. I mean there is definitely hard drive activity while it "hangs", but it has been at it for close to 20 minutes now.

Wish I knew what was wrong with it. This showed such promise. Maybe it's the Java?

Someone mentioned earlier that they encountered the same problem that I am currently experiencing with trying to convert my PSX ISO images to pbp. I have followed every faq/guide to the letter. I have cygwin1.dll in EVERY folder, including WIN32. I've tried ripping my own ISO files through NERO, POWER ISO, and even used confirmed working ISOs that I've gotten myself. I've used two separate downloads of Hot Shots Golf 2 as the base.pbp and keys.bin with no luck. I've used both GUIs and the original program through CMD. I always end up with the exact same result, however. An eboot.pbp which, when loaded, displays the beginning speil about how the game may differ and refer to the manual by pressing HOME, etc. Then it reads from the card for a few seconds and..... blank screen. It isn't frozen, as pressing HOME brings up the correct options, but it isn't PLAYING anything either.

Please, if anyone is willing, I could use help on this. I may not be a genius, but I'm no fool either. I've gone over and over the guides, and if I'm missing something... anything, I'm just not seeing it. I'll gladly answer whatever questions you folks may have of me in the hopes of narrowing down the problem and finding a solution.

Thank you for your time and effort on this.
