New PSP charging problem - PS3 NEWS

I just recieved my PSP today ... I start to charge it, and the amber light comes on for around 5 minutes ... then it turns off ...Never the less, I wait 2 hours (assuming that it is charging) then turn the PSP on without the AC adaptor and nothing happens ... So, I stick in the AC adaptor and the amber light comes on, and i am able to turn it on. But then, after around 4-6 minutes, the amber light turns off, and so does the PSP...

Can anyone explain this problem and possibly lead me to a solution?

Well instead of trying to figure out what the problem is, it would be best if you just exchange it for another.

yeah, it works without the battery using external power .. so prob is battery... problem is that im in australia ... imported the PSP from lik-sang ... so its a bother to send back, wait and send back to me ...

BTW.. something odd, if you are supposed to get a demo disc with the value pack... id didn't...

i have the same type of problem, im also in australia =(

i plug the power in and it doesnt charge... after a while the light goes green (when the psp is loaded) when its off it just stays amber

its going to be hard to send the batt back... how did you go?>

has anyone else had this problem?

I had this same problem when i got my psp. Here's what I did.

1.) made sure the WLAN switch was off
2.) reset the psp to factory defaults in the settings menu
3.) after resetting the psp to default settings i let it charge for about 2.5 hours before turning it on and entereing all the info that it asks for.

After i did this the battery was charged up and would then charge normally.

i have tested out the unit with another batt... and guess what it does the same thing! i got an external battery pack for it untill they replace it so i can still use the PSP but unfortunatly they dont know when it will be in as they are sold out! dont they test these things? i cant beleive this has happened! =(

I also bought a second battery and still had the same charging problem until I did what I posted earlier in this thread. Now everything works fine and both batteries charge without any problems.

i live in australia too, bought my psp from http://www.quantronics.com.au (just down the stree thehe jap 1.5)
the japanese version does not come with a UMD sampler neither a cleaning cloth

your charger may be busted, the charger iteslf is fine though as it automaticlaly adjusts to the voltage as everyone knows....

Hey! same problem here :cry:
Try to Reset to Factory Default, then remove the battery and reinsert it.
Mine seems to charging now...

Further news in two hours :grin:
