Custom Firmware Revision A 2.71 SE For PSP!
NOTE: Use this AT YOUR OWN RISK! It will NOT work on TA-082 PSPs so do NOT use it on them! Homebrew can be run on both kernels, the 1.50 one and the 2.71 one, letting almost all current homebrew to work on the 1.50 kernel, and 2.71 homebrew compatible with HEN C in the 2.71 kernel. Note: the installer writes to FLASH0. I'm not responsable of any damage of what happens, since this software is provided free and without warranty. TA-082 users cannot use this because a 1.50 bootstrap is needed to boot the system patched. At the moment, there is only an installer for 1.50, although it could be easily ported to whatever firmware with kernel access such as 2.60 and 2.71, but at the moment I prefer not to doing it to avoid TA-082 using it and breaking their PSPs. Note that this package DOES NOT contain any illegal material. The user has to provide the 1.50 and 2.71 updaters PBP's to legally generate the DXAR file used for the flashing. Custom Firmware Revision A 2.71 SE For PSP Here is a 2.71 SE Guide: How does it work? Both 1.50 and 2.71 kernel are flashed into flash0, it uses 1.50 kernel to bootstrap patched 2.71 Firmware. Pros and Cons? Pros: - Full 2.71 homebrew support - Almost full 1.50 homebrew support (some homebrews like UMDEmu or XFlash might not work properly with it, still so far all of the 1.50 homebrews I tried worked fine) - Recovery menu - Full DevHook support - Access to all 2.71 features - Native 2.71 UMD support - 1.50 decrypted PRX executable support - Real no-kxploit embedded (thus 1.00 unpatched EBOOT support) - have access to all 2.71 kernel features using 2.71 homebrew, such as GPS support or WPA support. Cons: takes about 1-2 second(s) more to load the Firmware at start-up. To install: (charge your PSP) 1) Get a 1.5 PSP 2) Obtain the 1.5 and 2.71 update files 3) Rename them to 150.pbp and 271.pbp as the should be 4) Verify that your MemoryStick is NOT fake 5) Download the Custom Firmware Revision A 2.71 SE For PSP 5) Place seupdmaker and seupdmaker% in the game folder on your PSP 6) Place the 2 EBOOTs in seupdmaker 7) On your PSP run seupdmaker 8) After it's done you will have a DATA.DXAR file in the seupdmaker folder (or download this file from HERE) 9) Put 271seflasher and 271seflasher% on your game folder on your PSP 10) Place DATA.DXAR in 271seflasher 11) Take any UMD out of the drive NOW! 12) Run 271seflasher 13) Read the text and verify that this is what you want to do 14) Press X to continue installation, R to escape back to 1.5 15) Feel free to format your MemoryStick afterwards to clear all the installation programs Welcome to the world of SE! Place 1.5 homebrew in the x:/PSP/GAME150 folder Place 2.71 homebrew/EBOOTs in the x:/PSP/GAME folder Note: You MUST have BOTH the game folders to play ANY homebrew located in GAME150 To turn off UMD auto-boot, and turn hide corrupt icons on: 1) Turn OFF your PSP 2) HOLD R as you turn your PSP on to enter the recovery menu 3) Go to configurations 4) Enable/disable options 5) Exit You can boot 2.71 from FLASH (Freeing Up MS space), to do so all you need to do is use the devhook271 flash fix included. 1) Before installing this DevHook fix, delete your current DH installation 2) Copy/Paste the DH and PSP folders from the devhook271 flash fix folder to your PSP 3) Run DH for 2.71 from your PSP 4) Under flash options, select 271F Customizing your Custom Firmware: To customise your custom firmware, use PSPset however do not use the following items in PSPset: 1) Menu changes Note: if you find your PPS dead because of this, try using the recovery menu Known Bugs: - Non-KXploited EBOOTs over a certain size have trouble loading, KXploit them to run them fine. - No iSO programs other than DevHook work to load iSOs yet - Some Flashing programs don't work (XFlash) for obvious reasons How to Reset Settings on 2.71 Special Edition: This is how to restore default settings, I did this as my Wifi wasn't working (error when saving details - some issue with sony 2.xx that only affects some... found a system settings reset was needed). In the readme Dark_AleX says not to use the reset to default settings, it will not break the PSP as we have recovery mode as in other custom firmware (hold R on cold bootup) but it will not successfully reset either. I had to reset my settings as, as mentioned above, I had an issue with wifi so to do this I did the following: Put the included FileAssistant EBOOT.PBP and Data folder in /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY make new folder & Put flash1 folder (from a DevHook Pack) in /FLASH1/NEW Create new folder /FLASH1/BACKUP hold power button to turn OFF PSP hold R and turn on PSP click RUN PROGRAM AT /PSP/.../EBOOT.PBP go to PSP BIOS 1 keep pressing square press right go to mem stick, PSP, FLASH1, Backup press left, then X, then copy go back to top on both screens, on the left go to mem. stick, psp, flash1, new on the right go to PSP bios 1 press select [] on DIC NET REGISTRY VSH press X, and delete go back to the left screen, press [] Select on all folders, press X, copy Reboot PSP This resets the PSP settings and my wifi started working, this may fix any number of issues, and also useful to swap your buttons (make X select) although im sure there are other programs that will swap your buttons for you (just not sure which as X-Flash wont work on anything other than 1.5). If you break it you can always hold R back into the recovery mode and fix it. nJoy! Custom Firmware Revision A 2.71 SE File Assistant For PSP |

Jap PSP
I am missing 2 things here: 1) I have a 1.5 Jap... Each attempt to upgrade to 2.0 US Firmware (In order to downgrade to back to 1.5 US) did not work. The PSP shows up with some Japanese message i cannot translate. 2) Do i need to upgrade my 1.5 Jap to 2.71 before using the this new great piece of hacked firmware? Thanks in advamce for any suggestion! Best from Norway
