A new patch for PlayTV on the PS3 has been released, with one of the major changes being that it now does automatic upscaling from SD to HD.
A couple of other small changes such as being able to jump directly into the TV mode From The XMB are also included. Additionally, Eastern Europeans can rejoice as it seems the MPEG 4 decoding issue has been resolved!
To quote: A patch for the PlayStation 3 European digital TV add-on, PlayTV, has now been released bringing it to version 1.10. The patch was announced a few days ago but I thought I'd wait until it was actually out in the open before writing anything about it.
The key change in this update is the addition of automatic upscaling from Standard Definition (SD) broadcasts to High Definition (HD). HD is the big thing now y'hear, so this is a good thing!
A few sound enhancement have been made too, such as volume control with the Official PS3 Blu-ray remote and audio normalisation (similar to the feature added to music playback in firmware 2.70).
You can now also jump directly into TV mode from the XMB, so you don't need the hassle of going through the PlayTV menus beforehand. In terms of playback, other than the sound changes, the only other change is slightly better rewind and fastforword handling, with new speeds added.
