Forgive my noob question here but does this help the HD-DVD playback from the PS3 or is this just for ripping the files? Is there YDL compatible software to play EVOB files yet?

In other words, I'm looking to use my PS3 as an "external Blu-ray drive" of sorts for my windows machine and transfer the data over an Ethernet connection without first storing it on the PS3 hard drive (won't fit on the 10G partition). Is that possible?

I saw word of something called iScsi it supposed to something of the sort, like a virtual drive in windows (maybe I heard wrong) I'll look into it right now

So it is possible to use the hd dvd drive from xbox on ps3 to see movies or to rip movies? I can see the movies or the rip movies with the vlc or mplayer?
